i know its long, but i dont really post much anymore. just felt an inclination to do so i guess.
i agree with nick. the thing that angers me the most about religion (christianity in particular), is the people that associate themselves with it in the wrong ways, for the wrong reasons. nothing makes me more mad than when i see someone turned off of a religion cause of the so-called 'rules' tied to it, or cause they dont want that fake, bubbly personality that the christian across the street has. or anything like that. it has nothing to do with whether or not you go to church, whether or not you are a good person, etc. its just that in most cases those who are truly 'saved', devote their lives in humility and service to God so to speak.
But with nothing else tied to it, as nick put, it is simply a relationship with God, one that surpasses any sins you may commit today or stuff like that, one that means more than the (often most sought after) fleeting aspects of life. Again this last part is only my view, and i am in no way innocent or a better person simply cause i beleive. we all make the same mistakes, feel the same hardships, etc.
to tell you the truth i respect those non-beleivers who know their views more than those who are in the middle, undecided. no matter what you beleive, it truly is the most important decision you will ever make in your life. or at least i beleive so. all i can say is that whatever you choose, dont let anyone else but yourself decide, and make sure you know why and can stand behind it. i mean other people can be helpful, but i think only to the extent of information. i think thats a problem i have with evangelism, how people try to 'sell' it to you like a product, when they dont even know you, but thats a different subject i guess.
this is totally personal and i think that, along with the fact that it focuses on the end and beginning of existence, is why this topic is so 'controversial', or just thought-provoking at least. its an interesting thing though, religion or spirituality in general, how its so extremely introspective and so extremely broad at the same time. |

| eighteenvisions, well put. i love talking to devoted religious people and hearing how they have have a relationship with an imaginary figure or someone who you cant see or have a two way conversation. im not making fun of it either. like it truely helps people to always think someone is there. it gets them through the day. i myself cant talk to noone and think its someone . i also enjoy talking about the bible cause for one ive never read it and everyone interprets it differently. I HATE WHEN ITS MY TURN TO TELL THEM HOW I FEEL AND THE GET PISSED B/C I DONT BELIEVE IN A GOD LET ALONE THEIRS AND THEY ARE THE ONES THAT ARE TALKING IN THE HEAD OR OUTLOUD TO SOMEONE WHO HAS NEVER SPOKE BACK TO THEM and i still respect em for that but they dont understand the logists of it. im loosing track of wat i was talking about so im gna stop lol |

Judge Christianity not on it's flawed followers but on the person of Christ.

headhuntermx4, i see your point with the whole not talking to someone real. but be careful you are making some general statements that may come across as stereotyping christians.
anyways, for me its more than just 'having someone there'. because i have friends, people whom i trust that are there. so if that was just it i dont think i would need God. Its more a matter of total trust and faith more than anything. there are things that ive seen and experienced, stuff ive studied, that just makes it impossible for me to refute the existence of a God. Even more than just personal experience, there are universal truths. i dont mean to get in a debate here, im just saying. i mean i worked with a neurosurgeon the other day and saw just how complex the brain is. look at how perfectly shaped the earth is, how regulated our climate is, stuff like that. i mean i guess that can be rationalized by some evolutionary explanation but i dont buy it personally. how can one explain love, emotions? yes i realize this argument is age-old and i am not challenging those who dont agree with me, just kind of trying to explain why i beleive, in the most crude sense, that there is a divine creator.
really i think its a matter of getting past the way of thinking this culture has entertained us to think, to always have hard cold evidence, always needing to analyze instead of having faith and trust. because trust and integrity (so maybe it does relate to wakeskating in a way...) are hard to come by in this world. maybe in a way related to the conflict between science and religion? but then again, look at Einstein, he was a beleiver.
anyways, i hope this doesnt fire up an argument, im really just sharing my views and why i guess. its nice having civilized conversations on this kind of stuff cause i think a lot of people shy away from talking about it. |

lets not wory about what the "christians" do. when it comes down to it your responsible for you, someday you will all stand before God and give a account of your life. He will ask you 2 questions
1. WHat did you do with the time on earth that i gave you ???? (even though this has no relevence in where you spen eternity)
2. what did you do with my son Jesus Christ ?
#2 is the question you should all be worried about.
so in closing im not a christian im not anything, I believe that Jesus christ the son of God died on a cross to pay for my sins. so that i may spend eternity in heaven. I know that im not the best example but believe me that im working hard on that.
headhuntermx4, tell me this if you dont believe in God how did we get here ? the BIG BANG ?
so you can believe that we developed from single cell omebas but you cant believe that there always was a God? im just curiouse
your brother in christ

Itīs really quite odd that a country in which you refer so much to God and to religion and have leaders and Presidents who consistently refer to God, happens to be one of the worst war mongers in history. When Bush says "May God be with us" he doesnīt mean to include include 1 million Iraqui children who died as a result of the US sanctions against the country. Many of these children died before they even knew they were Iraqui.
To me most religions are very similar - they are all about love to a greater or lesser extent. Too bad our political leaders today and in the past have used the religions as a pretext to gain power. This is nothing new itīs just very disturbing to me. Jesus was a fine man but killing millions of Vietnamese or Iraquis and calling upon his name is wrong. The only love I can see among these leaders is the love of POWER. _________________ Jazz up your life !

| Tobias_Neumann, i get what you are saying and i agree with you, just dont associate them with the religion or faith itself, they are poor reflections of it in my opinion. |

Tobias, so your saying that it was a bad idea to save a country from a dictator who committed genocide on his own people. It was a bad idea to work toward establishing freedom in a country where freedom was a word that could not be uttered. It was a bad idea to react to information we recieved from numerous and credible sources about WMD that could be used to inflict harm upon us or our neighbors. If those are bad ideas I want to hear a good one.
I know that was off original topic but to answer the question asked earlier I am a Conservative Christian who beleives there is a good and an evil in this world, and I also happen to wakeskate.
Trasncript from the Revered Billy Graham's daugher appearing on CBS' Early Show...
Jane Clayson: I've heard people say, those who are religious, those who are not, if God is good, how could God let this happen? To that, you say?
Anne Graham Lotz: I say God is also angry when he sees something like this. I would say also for several years now Americans in a sense have shaken their fist at God and said, God, we want you out of our schools, our government, our business, we want you out of our marketplace. And God, who is a gentleman, has just quietly backed out of our national and political life, our public life. Removing his hand of blessing and protection. We need to turn to God first of all and say, God, we're sorry we have treated you this way and we invite you now to come into our national life. We put our trust in you. We have our trust in God on our coins, we need to practice it. _________________ "If you saw two guys named Hambone and Flippy, which one would you think liked dolphins the most?
