well im finally going to fill you all in on what im talking about when ive said that im going to do something for wakeskating soon.

im going to start a enternet "zine". which will all be based aroung supporting rider owned co. and ther riders. i want this to be kind of like a movement in the wakeskating world. you know what i mean something that we can all be apart of, to keep wakeskating true to itself.

I plan on trying to do a interview with a pro and with a amature rider everymonth and throwing on some footy of the am rider. so that way more people can get exposure. i also want all of you to submit some articles to me that i can have that way its not just my voice being heard but anyone elses also.

i want to have contest like maybe get kampus, integ, cassette, sattalyte ect... to donate some stuff and then i'll have little contest like how dave does on here.

let me be clear on two things. im not trying to compete with this sight. mine and this sight will be nothing alike. and #2. i will not make any money doing this im doing it cause i love wakeskating.

i do want to call on the "pro's" that might be reading this right know if you put a sticker on your board and support this cause it is just as much for you as it is for everyone else that would be tight. i want to unify the rider owned wakeskating co.... with blood not money (i.e kents)

so what do you all think, is anyone behind me on this? im talking to a few people on here right now about puttting the page together and all that.

anyone behind me?

Pirate, I am not trying to start nothing. I am all for rider owned companys but I just not get why people on this site hate the larger companys (Hyperlite, LF, Etc.) If you like a board than that should be what you ride. Beside I don't think it would be such a bad thing to ride for one of the large company that have a little bit more money to spend and pay its riders. After all how great would it be to be able to ride and make a living doing it. Right now I have to work 50 hours aweek to pay the bills does not leave much time to ride.

PIRATE, I will do anything in my power to help you and support this cause. Many do not understand the importance of this, but it would appear as though you have thought this out very well. Anything I can do outside the obvious things, (sticker on my skate, car, jet ski, spreading the word... etc.) just tell me.

mergeleft3, If we do this, then the right copmpanies will have enough money to pay their riders to make a living doing what they love.

I own a clothing company, just over infinity... aka Joi Clothing (www.joiclothing.com), for the contests I could throw in some shirts, hats, etc..(if you want them, if you don't its cool, I know we're not big, probably no one on here has even heard of us..so I woln't take it personally if you dont want our gear) also.. any way I can help, I will..just let me know

peace

I'd be happy to help support the company and I'd sport a sticker on the board or maybe even on the boat...

I think the rider/amateur rider interview thing is great. I know that I always like to read the interviews and see new and upcoming riders. I think that would be an important feature to have.

I understand you may be against Kent Sports and the companies they own, but don't bash them in the magazine, basically for the survival of It. Nobody wants to read articles about how bad Hyperlite or Kent Sports in general is. I know that If I had a Hyperlite Skate and I was reading a magazine where It got bashed constantly I wouldn't want to read It...Just a suggestion though...

Just like El, I would be more than happy to write articles for the magazine.

Update us more about It and Good Luck with It!

Indeed, I have a feeling that Pirate wants it to be something that focuses on enriching the core side of wakeskating and mostly just leaves the corporate side alone.

Great idea, I would be more then happy to write up some articles for it. I also have some friends who are sponsored skateboarders that i got into wakeskating who i could get to put some stickers on the trucks and their boards. This would help spread the site. Dude and if we could somehow make up some big banners I could put some up at the local shop. How sick would that be to have a 6 foot banner on the rail?

PIRATE, I know we talked about this the other day and i just want to stress that i have spoken with Andy about this and you have all the support you need from Omen, Boards soft goods whatever. Once things are all in place here i will make sure that i get you a deck or two to raffle off to help support the site.

DiSsOwned, in your response to mergeleft3, you hit the nail on the head exactly!
The goal with this is not to sit around and read about how much one company sucks, this is forming a unity of riders and rider based companies, with everyones support we can make sure that wakeskating is owned by the riders not corporate america.

PIRATE, I have one stipulation on our support, that from this point on we do not directly refer to kent sports or any other company, This is just for the safeguard of my company and the others involved.

Ohh and think calling it The Revolt would be a little more appropriate, just a idea.

REVOLT : To attempt to overthrow the authority of the state; rebel.

To oppose or refuse to accept something: revolting against high taxes.

To feel disgust or repugnance: to revolt at a public display of cruelty.

To turn away in revulsion or abhorrence: They revolted from the sight.

An uprising, especially against state authority; a rebellion.

An act of protest or rejection.

The state of a person or persons in rebellion: students in revolt over administrative policies.

Just a little something from the Dictionary.

I personally don't see how it would be any different from my site and I have yet to figure out how it would not be in direct competition with Wakeskating.com (although there really is no competition because none of the companies are interested in advertising). I'm not saying it would be a bad thing, but I don't understand the difference. It sounds exactly the same to me. But that's cool because I think it is better for everyone to have more options.

So will Wakeskating.com be the big corporate bad guy of wakeskating websites now? Since this site makes ZERO money, it will be the poorest corporate bad guy ever. "They turk'er jobs!"

Not to steal Pirate's spotlight, but I would also love for any of you guys to submit content (interviews, news, reviews, etc.) anytime. I've had the following link on this site since I first put the site online. Feel free to use it.

I agree with to somewhat, that I don't know how it would be different. I think that you have some good ideas pirate, but not enough to make it differ enough.

The way you explained it, I see it as the same as this site, only: more interviews and articles I guess, more people writting articles and contributing to the site (which dave does offer with the link above to some extend), and thats about it. Other than that, you want to support rider owned companies however you can...but that only means via the site, stickers, people talking about it, and hopefully further in the future.

I think it'd be this site, just trying to support ride owned companies (ROCs) any way possible. Oh....I really like the trying to give away stuff and contests idea...do that (or Dave should). Razz But it's not easy to do that b/c companies aren't always going to give you stuff when you want it, but maybe you could get it to work.

I really don't want to see pirates idea/site in competition with this site. If anything, they should work together many. I hope your idea succeed pirate and I'm not trying to bash it at all. I'm even willing to help, cause I do support ROCs and I think it'd be cool if it aws headed in the right direction. Good luck, and as I said I'll help if you need it. I know a lot about starting things and how to go about things, sites, etc. Good luck again!

im right with Dave on this one. why not just submit some articles and pics to Dave so he can post them on the site? im pretty sure he would welcome contributions to the site especially now that things are quite stale.

i think you guys should put some effort into making this site better, not starting a new one. there isnt anything you can do there that you cant do here...

i realize that this may only be a magazine, but nonetheless why not just send Dave your article so he can post them?

What about starting a 'zine under the wing of WS.com... like a section of this website? Maybe like the secret song on a CD, or like those 1% magazines Cassette used to send out? (man I miss those)... just an idea...

el, this sounds like a cool idea...

ws.com already has everything needed to support such a thing. A good forum script to make it easy to make/update, and a dedicated community. Would be the best option to get a good start for a new 'zine

Pirate...However, I will support you with whatever you need.
