Ok im going to take a second to beach about someting that has really been pissing me off, maybe others have noticed this maybe its just me.

Latley i have noticed alot of mags that will have the caption "so and so doing a front side board slide" or something along those lines...

BUT! when any common child who has ever ridden any type of a board can see they are doing a backside board slide or the opposite!

I just kinda find it retarded how all these mags latley have totally been calling out the wrong tricks people are doing!?!

Seriously you work for a wakeboarding mag, the least you could do is know the difference between a back side board slide and a front side board slide, its not like its too hard to look at a photo and tell! And its not like this is a one time thing... i have seen it in at least 30-40 photos latley.

Oregon has NO snow and our water is like 48 degrees... so yeah im kinda pissed off and grumpy.

Anybody else notice this crap though?

SleuCrew,

I totally agree with you on that...Its just the opposite of what they write in there.

Its kind of like an indy grab vs. frontside grab...Its not an Indy unless your somehow going backside i.e hip, spin, etc....

It comes from skateboarding and a lot of people think frontside means going down the rail forward when actually its backwards cuz its how the face the rail or the call a lipslid wrong, but a backslide lipslide is going backwards so people who are well rounded and know there skate terms get all screwed up.

It is what inspired me to write this article...

Please feel free to correct anything that may be wrong. The point was to have an accurate guide for those that do not know.

It depends on how you approach the rail, once you are on it, it doesn't matter.

ex: backside boardslide , the rail is at your back and you are sliding facing forward.

not sure what you mean?

A lipslide is when you ollie and the tail of the board goes over the rail first. so, front lip would be facing the rail, ollie, tail goes over and you are still facing forward. Backlip is- back towards rail, ollie, tail goes over(or bs 90 if you will) and you continue backwards.

the key is this. If you are facing the rail before you hit it, that is frontside. If your back is to the rail, that is backside.
If you nose goes over first= boardslide
If tail goes over first= lipslide

what if you are coming straight onto a rail or box and then ollie, fs 90 (or bs 90), then slide it?

you never really started on either side of the rail, so how do you go about terminology there?

Greg T, what way are u coming to the rail Front side(toeside) or heel side?(backside) if u come to the rail front side and u do a fs 90 its a Lipslide, if u do a BS 90 then is a frontside board slide. If you come backside to the rail and u do a FS 90 then its a board slide, if u do a backside 90 its a backside lipslide. does taht answer your questions?

Are you asking if it would be FS or BS? Or, are you asking if it would be a boardslide or lipslide?

If you are asking if it would be FS or BS, then I would base it on the way you turn (assuming it is boardslide). If you are asking if it would be a boardslide or lipslide, then it would still depend on if the nose or tail goes over the rail first.

its really simple, boardslides is when ur nose goes oover the rail first and fs boardslide is when ur back is to the boat thats pulling u and bs is when ur facing the boat. Lipslide is when the tail goes over the rail first and when ur back is facing the boat its bs and when ur facing the boat it is fs.

G-squadriderz, did you read my post. although you are correct, the way you described it is confusing. It really only boils down to what way you are facing the rail/wake
