"One thing I will say though, is that it does matter how much your board weighs no matter where you are on the water."
I never said it didn't
Wouldn't be easier to ollie a lighter board. Thats my point.
There is a ton of skating thats done with a fair amount of speed; vert, big gaps etc. soooo........
Anyway, you kids are right, this ol guy don't know what he's talking about |

I guess, but what does that have to do with skateboarding? Surfboards are light!

HAHAHA you gave me a good laugh, thx
But u rite, it all has to do with skill, but since skill is in your head, how YOU feel on the board is the most important thing.
If you get the best feel on a Kampus flat lunch tray, then it's the best board for you tu use.
Ride what you want to be riding and you will improve.

Integ = sweet, but bi-level = sweeter, there's no other skates worth mentioning when comparing with these two |

Nick Taylor, sorry about the guilt trip
I'm just trying to figure out how a heavier board will give you an advantage, other then the ol' board flies away thing, cause IMO I think that skill would overcome the board wanting to fly away. I hate to say this, but grubb and byerly have no problems on their "to light" boards.
Anyway, I'm not trying to argue, just have a healthy discussion about boards
Oh and I'm not trying to pit company against company. Cause like I said before, Both Integrity and Cassette make great boards |

andystrawn, all the compression Hypes have a different weight system, and the Integs were 7lbs as I recall _________________ why dont you try playing hide and go Fvck yourself |

russian they put weight in their old models and now they are way heavier for this year, also skill and personal prefrence has the biggest part to do with it and u have a valid point but when ollieing most of the snap is derived from were the board sits in the water. so the shape and weight paly a big part of that. but in the bilevs case it has a different pop system combined with the way a single level pops to create a feel that will only be achieved in that board. but that is just ollieing, when doing plain ol POP-shuv-it(in the air not surface) a lighter board is greatly affected by an off axis rotation, there fore more sensative and less predictable.
im not saying ur point is wrong, in fact its very valid for ollies but in others tricks the weight will shine brightly. have u ever rode a bilev??? |

headhuntermx4, no, but I wasn't really talking about the bi-level, just board weight in general. I wouldn't bash a board for no apperent reason. "it's to light" is such a played answer from people that swear by wood, and refuse to give anything else a chance.
Although the Integrity is a little lighter then say a 4-track, I don't think that is necessarily a bad thing. It's all preference. I have both of these boards and like them both ALOT.
Anyway, like I said I'm trying to argue with people, just trying to have interesting conversation, instead of "that sucks, buy this"
It's been pretty hostile around here lately |

just a quick search. The Integrity site states the board weighs 6.5 lb. and wakeworld has the 04 41" 4-track at 6.6 lb. I'm not sure how accurate the wakeworld data is. but if thats true then I think weight is a dead issue. I'm going to wieght my boards on a conventional home scale and see what they are. the only problem is I won't have exact numbers, but it should be close.
I'm bored so this will be a fun "experiment"
Edit: the cassete site has the same weight for the 41 4-track
so is 1 ounce really a difference |
