I appreciate his sense of loyalty and where he's coming from. And he's so right on. I thought it awhile back about teva, and how that brand had some good riders, but no rider actually wanted the shoe no matter how much they tried to support wakeskating. It's interesting how things can work, but it's the riders who decide. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

I love jenkem. Great interview. Lets see some eye opening journalism (like this piece) in the wakeskate world WSM! |

What a great perspective on the skateboarding industry. I love how he gives his view on both sides of the big company vs. core company debate. Buy your Nike SB's, or buy your Lakai's, just make an educated purchase. |

Yeah, it's balanced and i respect his position. Honestly, i never ever thought i'd buy nike SBs. But those bastard remote/watermonster guys rip, and the designs are sick on top of it. So celebrity worship takes over and now i have probably12 pairs of those damn shoes. It is what it is. As he said, the flip side is they take care of their riders and they've invested in wakeskating. Maybe i'm off on this, but you think about income and now nick built this insane wakeskate playground that he wants to share...that's one of the best and most unselfish outcomes that could ever happen.
But that's not to say i don't support the under dog... _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

If you're looking at JUST wakeskating, we should support Nike 100% I don't see any other shoe company doing what they are in wakeskating. I don't see any other COMPANY doing what they're doing in wakeskating.
I know other sports have a longer history with things like this, and it's really interesting to see Marc talk about both sides of the argument. For wakeskating, any companies supporting the right riders, in the right way, is a good thing.
I'd love to see another shoe company in wakeskating. (I know Fox has a shoe.. ) |

Dvs had a solid history of involvement in wakeskating, which is why i wrote an article about them. It's different with new ownership and such, but they are still supporting some riders.
I wasn't looking just at wakeskating with nike, and tended to not separate any of it. Also adding in my brand loyalty to dvs at the time and that solidified me not purchasing nikes at that point in time. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |
