I was wondering if anyone knew of any good colleges with good photography programs that are surrounded by a strong wakeskating community?

The time for me to start applying for colleges is approaching very quickly, and I still don't have any real idea of what I'm doing or going to do. My parents have been getting on my back about, because I'm going to start running out of time really fast, soon. I was thinking about applying to Full Sail University, and mostly because of the area it's in, but i quickly changed my mind once i saw how pricey it is.
Needless to say, I need to get my sh*t together.

There is a pretty strong wakeskate community around the San Marcos/Austin area. I don't know about any of the photography programs. I know there are art institutes all over the place and you would think they would have a decent photography program. So maybe check into the art institute and see where they have schools at that have photography programs.

Florida State wake team has (or at least had) plenty of skaters. When I was there we had built a rail park on a lake and did camping/winch weekends every once in a while. Was a blast!

the other luke, FSU's pretty sweet. Temperature can plummet in the winter but nothing like a summer semester; Light class schedule, one or two classes a day then shredding at the lake all afternoon...

goddamn I miss college.

FSU has a really fun wake club but their lake is also is very low so they haven't been riding. anywhere in austin, orlando, or south florida will get you around a lot of riders. FSU and UT both have top 10 film programs and really good photography programs, but If you go to FSU or UT though you probably won't be getting to ride all that much because the lakes are 20-30 minutes away and school work is unfortunately very time consuming. I vote ATX all day though

Clint and Logan both won't be living in Tally next year, so there will be about a 50% decrease in the wakeskater population at FSU.

If you're really trying to wakeskate a lot, UCF is the way to go. You can't beat lakes everywhere, warm weather, and tons of people to ride with.

I go to UF about an hour and a half north of Orlando, and I have to travel a good bit to wakeskate. We have a club team that I am an officer of with a boat, and we get to ride on that twice a week. It's fun, but you shouldn't expect a lot of riding time. That being said Chris Pate is coming here next year, and we've got plans to fire up wakeskating here in Gainesville Twisted Evil

Your future is to important to plan around wake skating...... Find a college that will best meet your professional needs and then make friends that ride or build your own scene.....

I agree with Pirate. and you don't need to be in Florida… Would you ever guess that Philadelphia would be a good spot for wake skating?? Well it is! We have Brett Leadleys rail park 45 minutes away. the river here is always glassy, and we have a few really fun winch spots. So go where the school is and find some people to skate with and it'll be all good.

Don't go to Full Sail if you want to ride or shoot wakeskating. I went and didn't ride half as much as I used to. You wouldn't have time for anything but school.

I go to Daytona State/UCF photography school also called the Southeast center of phoptographic studies and love it. Not really a wakeskate scene here but orlando is 45min away. If your going into any photography program you wont have as much free time as you think. With longer classes, weekly projects and eveything else it eats up most of your time, and money

PIRATE, who are you to say what is most important to someone else's life?
Your future is too* short to spend 4 years in a boring town where no one skates and people just want to play beer pong and wear pink polo's.

the other luke, if you want to wakeskate, move South homie, don't kid yourself.. we're the only people that ride 11 months out of the year without wetsuits. There's plenty of schools down here with photography programs. IADT, Ringling, Savannah, UCF, Valencia, Daytona, etc. And depending on what kind of photography you're looking to get into, Florida is great for action sports and photo journalism because there is so much to do down here.

adeguzman, I went to Full Sail, rode everyday and filmed More Than Machines while I was there.. and still graduated with a 3.6GPA. (That's probably low for Full Sail? Haha)
