We're u a wakeboarder or a skateboarder before you started wakeskating? Seems like a lot of people say its easier if u transition from wakeboarding rather than skateboarding what do u guys think?[/quote]

Both, but wakeskating quickly consumed each of them. I still skateboard a little when I can though.

I'd like to challenge you to a bad skateboarder-off.

I did both for a while (more skating though since I couldn't get on a boat all the time), then got in to wakeskating.

skateboarded through Jr. High then rollerbladed throughout high school then senior year (2005) started wackboarding, met fastgreens and cheapskate in 08/09? been wakeskating ever since. I screw around on bmx and blades still occasionally during the winter. Had a dirt bike for awhile as well but never really got that into the sport so ended up selling it about 2/3 years back. Oh and started surfing back my junior year in high school but haven't made any surf trips in over a year so...
Also tried snowboarding for the first time last year it was fun but I'm not a fan of cold weather so I don't see myself doing that too often.

Ya I've skateboarded mostly, rode a wakeboard like 2 times before I was introduced to wakeskating, I try n skate whenever I'm not on the water...wakeskating is the shizzle my only regret is not finding out about it sooner.

Crazy Kooks! Ha, just playing. I've been skateboarding for 22 years, and I started wakeskating 8 years ago. I only have strapped into a wakeboard three times in my life. Why? I'm an urban kid. Born and raised in the city. Most any watersport is out of the question, especially since I live nowhere near any coast. Even the lakes are out of town a bit. Anyway, I dated a chick who was into wakeboarding at her parents lakehouse on Lake of the Ozarks. After watching so many times I had to try... Total failure! Being a skatebaorder since forever, it was like having my shoes tied together. I just could keep my balance. Nothing felt natural. I am so used to being able to shuffle my feet around to setup for just about any skateboard trick, I didn't even realize I did that so much. But then, I remembered seeing the strapless wakeboard (hyperlite; grubb) in the pile of boards back at the spot. So, after hearing it was called a wakeSKATE, I insisted I try. Rest is history. Got up first try too! It took a while to really start landing shove's and 180's, but I was actually trying them before I had ever even seen so much as a video of people riding them. As a skateboarder, the vision's came natural. I sometimes wonder, though, if I had been a wakeboarder if I would have enjoyed boat more?> I do like boat, but winching is where my heart is. I guess the endurance test of riding out a long pull in chop, where glassy water can only be found and the crack of dawn, just wears me down. Like I said, been skateboarding for 22 years now. I am, and always will be, a skater. In fact, to me, wakeskating is skateboarding, just on a different track Smash

Never skateboarded before I wakeskated. Long boarding down hills doesnt really count. I was a wakeboader at heart until I rode my skimboard behind the ski. Since then Ive only strapped like 3 times in 4 years.
And if I was to get on a skateboard I would bust my sh*t open for sho.

Skateboarder first here....gave up a pretty promising motorcross endevour to pursue skateboarding soley. Skated for a shop up here in AK called Boarderline, had a few short clips in a few vids. That was back in 96 thru 99. Never even knew about wakeskating or wakeboarding back then as the scene in AK for that is slim to none and all summer was spent skating with the homies. As we all know at some point life gets in the way and I had to make a choice to either move to Cali with some of my bros on the team to pursue a pro carrer or start working toward a carrer of a diff kind.
I still regret not following the dream of going down and pursuing a pro carrer. 3 outta 4 of my bros who went down now skate professionally and are sponsored.

I've only strapped once since I started wakeskating this year and probably never will again. Even though I snowboard (also snowboarded for Boarderline) and it mimicks it somewhat, I just love the feeling of being free from the board like skateboarding. I'm excited to see what level I can take my wakeskating to eventually and super excited to see where the evolution of this sport is going.

This site, WeSubsist, and WSM has been the most informational and the most "on the pulse" of wakeskating I have seen/frequented. I most def would not know what I know, been schooled, seen what I've seen, or been able to pass along info to others without the help of the community and blood, sweat, tears put into these sites + sport.

To end, thank you to all of you. I've come into a family of entuhsiest and professionals all working toward a common goal of bringing this sport to light and having the best time in the world while doing it...*bowing down*

i've been skateboarding for 23 years now. in 04 i got to know about wakeskating. being severely injured from skateboarding (6 year break how it turned out) i stumbled upon wakeskating cause a friend of mine did it parallel to wakeskating. i was hooked immediately! skateboarding on the water - how cool is that! less impact than streetskating. thinking back wakeskating pretty much saved my life and my sanity.
throughout this season i was hardly riding though as i moved to Berlin end of 11 and cables are rather far out of town. and besides i'm enjoying skateboarding more than i ever have. mostly skating transition though.
just bought a motorbike to be able to drive out to the cable by myself next summer and shred my wakeskate like i used to in Magdeburg. i'm definitely missing wakeskating!

I skateboarded ever since i can remember and got into wakeboarding first because wakeskating didnt exist at the time. Once i found out about wakeskating and got my own deck i never wakeboarded again..

Got my teenage mutant ninja turtle skateboard (probably from WalMart) when I was around 8 or so and never looked back. My boss in high school had an Xstar and finally convinced me to wackboard. Strapped for about a year and in that time fell in love with wakeskating in all her glory.
