Thinking about picking up a pair of skis for next summer but know that I'm going to be only using one way more often than the other (one for skating, and an extra ski for days to go cruising with friends/the girl). Anyone in a similar situation? Just wondering if it's generally ok to leave one ski on the trailer at the ramp as long as I have good locks or if I should figure something else out.

You're overthinking this. Just buy one ski.

Wakeskating in itself is not hard on a jetski. You can get several hundred hours out of one with it primarily being used for skating.

When that ski gets worn out and it's time to upgrade... then buy another.

I agree with senorbueno. Two skis is a waste of money. One good Seadoo with a 155 hp 4tec engine will last for many years with minimal maintenence.

The supercharged skis require frequent rebuilds and are a waste of money in my opinion, unless you need to cruise over 60 mph for some reason. NA models, (naturally aspirated) provide more than enough power for wakeskating and cruising, and much more cost efficient. I've had my 03 GTX for 10 years and it has served me well.
