yesterday started off rough, go out there put it in and took off only to cavitate the prop right around 20mph. Shocked

talked to some folks and realized that i forgot to account for the keel strip being the "true" bottom. of the boat. so i made some calls and a buddy let me in his shop in the sweltering 100+ degree heat so i could hack the mount off and drop it down. i did it this way because it involed the least cutting and welding to get us back on the water. ill plate it in later tonight and clean it all up.

after we got it out on the lake it was perfect aft that little correction.

you can kinda see the wake in these pics
here is the gf

here is one of Jeremy working on his 3 shoves

and here is me playing on the i/o wake, (still didnt have enough weight in the boat really need a 4th person to go with us)

Rootar, That looks perfect, you could take a trick from the strappers and just weight the front of your boat i.e. fatsack or the cheap man sand bag it.

nice job on the tower fabrication and welding, looks solid. Truly inspirational. I am working on a boat right now, doing the cosmetic refinishing at the moment hoping to start on the tower shortly after. Thanks for sharing!

i think 150-200lbs up front would be ideal for 3 peopl when we take 4 i doubt we need any extra weight.

4 people was the ticket in the boat btw! two people + all the extra gear in the front of the boat + driver and one gas tank in the back (we always carry two) =sweet wake and big ole startup roller. the boat also pulls you up a lot better and planes faster with all the weight up front. we were actually having to let off the throttle a lot sooner as you got up or we could miss the perfect piece of the startup roller.

other other day i finished cleaning up the towbar/motor mount, added a ladder on the back Very Happy now we can easily get in and out, only half is in the picture i gotta go grab some narrow narrow stainless hinges to mount the lower half on with but basically when its folded down the first step will be atleast 2 feet under water. best part is that its not at all in the way, and entering at the back the boat doesn't rock.

also got some paint on it Cool

the whole setup as it sits there on the floor prolly weighs 75-80 pounds. takes roughly 15-20 minutes to take on/off, it has (16) 3/8" bolts holding it on (8 in the transom, 8 in the top rails) there is ZERO flex under full load to the naked eye something ive never said about the back of a jon boat.

here is a little video, it was the first time i landed a hs bs shuv off the startup roller, then goofing off the rest of the run and missing the handle on the back 180.

after you click play if the video is still sideways give it a little while and check back because i fixed that in the editor and it said it may take a few minutes for the change to actually go into effect.
