Hey all.
So I am just finishing up the final weeks of my design degree here in New Zealand and am starting to look for employment. The job market here however is pretty small in the design field and I am starting to think abroad and to incorporate a bit of travel into.
The US has always been of interest to me and I was wondering what the job market is like over there at the moment, especially in the design field, mainly web design, video production and editing, and photography.
Also where abouts is good to go in the states? I would love to try and meet up with some fellow wakeskaters, so would be nice to be situated somewhere where I can ride. I have been thinking Cali or Florida as there is surely work around this area?
If anyone could give me a heads up that would be awesome. I would be thinking about travelling early next year so I can atleast get a summer in.

The job market is pretty bad overall, but I'm not sure how things look for designers. Probably not any better.

It seems to be like that everywhere at the moment. Hopefully something might pick up by the start of next year when I'd be looking to travel

I have some friends in a similar field for what you're looking for (or trying to get in to it) and it's pretty tough, just like anything right now. I'd say the best thing you can do is to stay in practice, build a really solid portfolio, and try to do some freelance work here and there. Word of mouth can do wonders if someone has something good to say about what you do.
