|
|
So I've decided to post some steps from my final 3-d project. I was inspired by my boombox deck, so I decided to create a 3-d version of that boombox and animate it. Ultimately It will be an edited video with music and different camera angles. Also, this is a pretty early version because I don't have anything textured yet. But I'm psyched so far so have a look if you're so inclined:

Nice work snow. What program do you use for your 3D?

thanks guys! I'll be psyched when it's done.
dscsk8er55, we actually use blender, which is a free program. Our university has a very good WDMD program, but they decided to go with blender because maya is expensive. I'm kind of glad we used blender because otherwise I'd have had to have done a lot of work at school. With blender, I was even able to do a lot of my work at the cabin, which was really nice. ANYWAY....

I have used a bit of blender. I am most competient in Maya, but that isn't saying much b/c I am a coder. I am excited to see the progress of this project.
I am all for Blender btw being open source and runs on linux.

electricsnow, Nice! I didn't know you were into 3D modeling/animation.
I'm also really jazzed that Blender is free and is a relatively powerful program. Personally I use Cinema4D, but still have a huge amount of respect for blender creators and users.

Man, I'm trying to be a coder! For everything I've studied in WDMD, I've tried the hardest at flash and I still have a lot to learn and it's one thing I'd really like to get good at. Next fall I'm taking a gaming course, and I'm not so into gaming unless it's galaga (haha) but it's more about the way the application is set up.
Slapdown, it just ended up being another aspect of the wdmd thing and I'm really glad I took the class. It's another tool to create some interesting media and to see how this project is turning out excites me just because of the potential for other creations. I've heard of cinema4D and that program is actually used for some video class in our communications department, but It's unlikely I'll ever take that class.

Raven, ha, seriously! that one would be a bad ass project. I'd kind of like to make a bunch of cassette objects.
Anyway, here's a reasonably final version. it's what I submitted, but there are some changes I'd like to make and things to experiment with. Originally i had some problems with export quality but this is better than it was. Overall I'm really psyched. But I did take that song from the mini oakely documentary I re-posted on here...I said I really liked it.
Oh, and so far I haven't even textured it because I thought it looked like trash. Ultimately I wanted to replicate the line drawing as close as I could but it was hard to map the texture on the object and not have it look like crap.

looks like fun!
I like the transformer idea; maybe another w/ some stickmen assembling powerlines/poles?
