So I've broken 3 pull strings on my engine in the past year or so (the most recent one only lasted a few months!). Are there any recommendations on brands or anything I should be looking for?
I think the last one I got was kind of cheap but I still feel like I'm breaking these more often than other people are. |

what's the condition of the hole where it enters the engine? is it rough and constantly wearing on the rope? does your engine offer an electric start? one method that really works but is somewhat hillbilly is to take the pull start mechanism completely off the engine, there is a nut on a shaft that you can turn with your cordless drill and it will start the engine, I always start my minibike that way, I can shoot a video of it later and post it on here if you need _________________ ☆PHOENIX WINCH☆

robsmaze, supermanotorious, It's a new engine, so it's in good shape and shouldn't be tearing it up so much, it might just be the angle you have to pull it at. I think I'm gonna throw down for the electic starter but I was concerned that it would get damaged more easily as my winch sees a lot of salt water (I always rinse it down though after use).
Any idea on what they cost? At least ballpark? I imagine they're not that hard to install, right? |

Guy, Very true. What a dilema, haha. I imagine I can carry the battery separately, right? |

yeah you can carry the battery by its self, I use a battery and set it on a piece of wood on the ground next to the winch _________________ ☆PHOENIX WINCH☆

Frye, I just thought about doing this the other day, good to hear someone else did it with no problem (not that I imagine it would cause issues, string is string).
I have some extra rope lying around (I use the amsteel for my main-line) so I guess I'll give that a shot. Thanks! |
