i try not to ever buy anything from china. a lot of it is poorly made and falls apart. plus it supports child labor. have you seen the pics of them yet?

i would not invest into a japanese engine, just because ive had my own experience(not with winching) and the vibrations after 5 weeks of use and it wasnt good. Im investing into a 8hp by Briggs and its gonna be the shiz. The difference really is that with a 6.5, you cant really deep water start a guy about 180 about 500ft out well. 8hp its cake. good luck choosen. If anything contact Ryan with Pulldozer Winch Systems and he can help you out Cool

Also those chinese brands are much tipper.

Just an example : TOYAMA china = 300$ // HONDA japan = 650$ both 6.5

Here are the PICS :

TOYAMA

BRANCO

and here a bigger pic of 1 TOYAMA 5.5HP

Also...

If I get 1 of those..
What should work better:

Torq-a-verter converter #35
Torq-a-verter converter #41

Question

PS> Planing to go with
Chain (#35 pitch)
Sprocket (#60)
Rope spool (large)

#35... it is much easier to come by parts with this chain pitch because it is the chain used on go carts.... so go with the 35

Actually here in Brazil its easy to find #41 sprockets and chains, cuz most parts have to be bougth from industrial supply.
Since it would be a more resistent chain, I'm using the #41...

S!c,
Branco Motors are manufactured in Brazil... they are prety much the same as a honda. Mine is 8hp... its supposed to be better than toyama

I have a 5 year old that I wish would do some chores, so I guess I support child labor. Laughing

not true... many of my friends are over 180 pounds and can get pulled up easily with a 6.5 engine, ours is a honda knock off 6.5 and it works fine... you just have to gear it right and the cvt dosnt hurt... also personal experience helps, if the person has never deep water started behind a boat or dosnt know how to get up "light" chances are he wont be able to deep water behind the winch,... just remember when going with the larger engines your gear ratios might change a bit from the standard winching 6.5...

mr. Blond, that engine should be fine... when looking at engines most 6.5 hp engines are goin to run the same... the only difference is the cheaper knock offs are of course goin to be less quality and may require alittle more tunning work and maintenence... and also with knock offs parts are sometimes harder to come by...

Knox or anyone else, share the method of getting up "light", is this the process of keeping the board flat under water and sort of rocking it from left to right as you're taking off
