What's up everyone,
My name's John... long-time ws.com skulker, first-time member. I'm also the owner of Kuma Board Company, a name I'm sure none of you have ever heard of. We are a small, rider-owned wakeboard and wakeskate manufacturing business based out of MA/NH that is just starting-up. Our aim is not so much to compete with the bigger brands out there but to provide a niche market to those who are more into the urban aspect of the sport (winching, PWC jibbing, etc.). Starting this spring, we hope to produce and release a jib-friendly wakeboard as well as a single-level wakeskate to the market (on top of all the necessary accessory swag, of course).
I think I can safely say that we are the first such company to be based out of New England, something that has been both a blessing and a curse. We certainly don't have the smorgasbord of spots to hit that you lucky fools in Orlando/Texas/anywhere-that-doesn't-freeze-over-for-nine-months do, but the riders we shred with are dedicated, passionate, and idiotic enough to hit stuff and ride waters that probably shouldn't be approached by humans. Put simply, we love this sport, and our placement in the worst-weather part of the country isn't gonna stop that.
Enough of that, though... I'm on here because we, as a team, are currently seeking a wakeskater to join our crew. Obviously, we are looking for a rider with some skills who is based in New England. If we wanted someone who just stomped their first dock start, I'd get out there on the skate myself Still, though, that's certainly not the most important qualification. We want a rider who is motivated, who will jump in swampy, leech-infested, or 40 degree waters because they just have to hit that feature. This sport is about enjoyment and we are a tight-knit crew, so we want someone who will fit right in and join in the shenanigans right off the bat.
Specifically, we are looking for someone who is able to travel to the northern MA/NH area and possibly (probably) beyond. We hope to begin filming our first promo this spring, and we need a skater there with us boarders. We will be hitting rails, gaps, and whatever else we come across, but we also want someone who can put together a decent line behind a moving tow.
I think that just about covers everything.
So anyways, I just wanted to introduce myself and Kuma Board Co. to all of you and say to please be in touch. If you're interested in riding with us, send some footie so we can cruelly judge and mock you. If you're not and you think we're full of s#!t, let us know. And if you just want to talk to some riders in the New England area, hit us up. Us northerners gotta stick together, after all.

We're currently finishing up our third prototype for the skate... should be sending the first batch to the printing press in the next couple weeks and they'll hopefully be completely ready within a month. I'll post some pics from earlier test sessions once I get them on this computer. The wakeboard is much earlier along, and unfortunately we don't have any pics for that one yet. We should be getting a site up in the coming months for you to check out, though.
Thanks for the support, and I'll be sure to keep you all posted. |
