| + 1 for not imposing my will on others. its not my place to tell somebody to wear a vest if they don't want to, not sure why many of you feel otherwise. |

My uncle thought that too. He's dead. I can't show my father wakeskating videos anymore because all he can see is his dead brother when people aren't wearing a vest.
Think about the people you're going to leave behind. My dad's life is a living hell everytime that month comes around, just because my uncle didn't wear a vest.
Wearing a vest will save your life if you are knocked unconscious.
I've been hit by my board hard enough to break my nose, if it had hit me in the forehead/temple I could have easily been knocked out.
You're life is extremely valuable, I think it's worth slipping on a life jacket.
I dread the day when I get on this website and hear about the death of a wakeskater, and I hope it never happens. |

| That's why I wear a vest. If you've got a better reason not to wear one then go for it, I'm not going to criticize you. I'll be stoked on your video and excited about your pictures, hoping that I never see the day when they stop coming. |

I think if you are comfortable enough on a wakeskate you don't always have to wear a CGA PFD. Make the choice for yourself. If I'm going wake to wake in knee deep water I usually wear one and if I'm just riding with one of my home slices behind the ski I won't wear a vest. I get really bad pit rash from life jackets so that is my reason for not wearing one. Plus I head if you don't wear one you look like a hard a and everyone will wan't to be like you. Wearing anything non coasty is pointless, it doesn't matter where you are. And wearing a vest won't always save your life, so don't think "OMG i am wearing a Coasty I'm invinvible!!11!!1"
didn't that girl get hit by the prop? I don't think the life jackets is going to do much for you then...

I will always wear a live vest. They are meant to keep you a float if something were to happen to you whether you are in deep or shallow water... It doesnt matter if you can stand or not when you get knocked out by hitting your head on a rail or wakeskate. If you are in no shape to swim you are out of luck. _________________ -come getzome- |

bb, Depends where and what your surfing.
I seperated my ribs wearing a vest (CGA) it hurt alot.
I slap my back brutally on occasion with no vest.
I just do what I feel like at the time now. I am also aware of how competent I am in the water. |

its not your problem to begin with, save your breath and stop harassing people that choose to live their lives differently from you. |

Props to W for taking a stand...... were boy's you just dont know it yet. I'm guilty of not wearing a jacket from time to time.
How many of you have CURRENT CPR/CCR cards? As someone who witness's death on a daily basis.......... learn it. Everyone dies, if your riding with out a vest you just bumped up the odds. At least be responsible on some level.
ohhhhhh and BTW the surfing argument is fvcktarded. _________________

BB, someone on a different site brought up that argument awhile back and I think part of it comes down to not really being able to duck dive waves with a life jacket on.
but in big wave surfing and tow ins, don't a number of guys use life jackets? I don't pay enough attention to surfing to really know any numbers, but I know that when billabong was working on their wake vest line, there was some sort of testing or whatever going on with their surfing vests (in relation to the wake vests), but those were too bulky or something.
I've pretty much always said my piece on the whole vest issue, and I generally feel pretty disappointed if I see someone I care about riding without a vest because I hate the thought of losing someone because of an action that can make a fatal accident so preventable. Man, I never knew corey kraut but to read all of the memories from his friends, and to read that one of the hardest things greg nelson ever had to do was to tell corey's mom that she lost her son, makes it all very real... _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

I've said my peace on this time and time again... Once you have someone close to you die from not wearing a vest it'll change the way you feel about wearing a vest forever.
I knew Cordell, he was an amazing person. If he would of been wearing a vest he'd be here today.
To me it's easy, ride till I can't walk anymore or take the chance of never riding again.
It's like having sex with some random person without a rubber, sure it feels a hell of a lot better but there's a chance you might end up with herpes, the hiv or who knows what!
