Sooo, it's my 21st soon and my uncle was like "well I haven't bought you a birthday or christmas present in a while, so I'll get you somethin nice". I suggested a verge wakeskate and he was like sure I will see what I can do.

I get an email from him today saying that he thinks the shipping (to Queensland, Australia) is gonna be USD$234.50. I was like Shocked Confused Laughing . Nah can't be that much, cause I have only ever had to pay a maximum of like 60 bucks US (and that was for a NEW bi level).

I was just wondering if anyone could help me out here. Does anyone know if USD$234.50 is actually the price it would be to get it to Australia (cause if so I might give it a pass) or if he just made a mistake. I would really appreciate any help, cause I want a verge quite bad.

Thanks

JonnyB

PS yes I have emailed them, I just thought I would make a post in here too, just in case someone knew something.

JonnyBravo, when shipping internationally, NEVER go USPS!!!! USPS is only a domestic service! USPS is terrible for updating their tracking numbers and are really f*cking slow on getting you your package!

for instance, i ordered a wetsuit from Melbourne FL on Aprill 11th, last month. The store i bought it from said they would pay for priority shipping, great i thought! WRONG they went USPS style on me. Here it is on day 21, going on 4 weeks now and it has yet to arrive! WTF! so i go check the tracking numbers (daily) and it says my package hasn't moved since 4/20.... and this is suppose to by priority shipping? and this package is only being sent within North America, i cant imagine the wait time on US-Australia packages, honestly probably 2-3 months if you go with USPS. This is ridiculous. I've used UPS/FedEx before and it only takes them 7 business days!

That quote your uncle got may have been for the quickest possible method to get you that package. I'd suggest just getting the priority shipping thru UPS or FedEx, it may take a little longer to get than the quickest method but you saves money.

F*CK USPS!!!!!!!!

usps sucks. they have been losing money forever and soon it's going to cost a dollar for a stamp.

JonnyBravo, I ship from the US all the time and I've never had a problem with USPS.
I've shipped two boards from the US and the most it cost me was $65US Priority shipping and that was for a board, board bag, shorts & a couple of DVDs and it only took 9 days at longest.
Your quote for $234.50 is way off.

I've shipped stuff from Australia to the States and didn't ever have to pay that much for shipping.

Shipping from the States to to Australia isn't any different. Should be about $60. The United States Post Office is cheap and easy to use. Make sure you get insurance on it and signed delivery with a tracking number. They don't offer tracking like UPS where you can tell where the package is though. It's usually one scan that it's in their system and the next is when it's at your door. As long as it's insured you shouldn't have a problem, unless it gets caught up in customs for some reason.

I also have stuff shipped to me from Japan (motorcycle parts) and it's never much over $30 for a normal size box.
