I still can't comprehend this holiday. Stoners who try to look cool make a huge deal about this holiday and how much "weed they gunna smoke" but real pot heads don't make a huge deal about it because its the same as any other day, you sit around and get high with some friends, get the munchies, eat some junk then pass out.

The only thing significant about today is that the Columbine shooting happened on this date, yet an uncanny number of people are going to do other unproductive illegal things today, hell and Im sure a few might even try it for the first time because of all the "rage" and peer pressure associated with it in high school and now middle school, maybe even elementary as of late.

Why is there no Cocaine day? Heroine day? Barbiturate day? Oh because its not seen as "cool" to most of society to do those drugs. Why don't I get a designated drinking holiday? Yes yes i realize most of you are going to say St. PATTIES DAY!!! but guess what most people drink just as hard on any given week day.

And Zack, what happened to trying to clean up? How come you can commit to a Holiday like 420, but not to stopping your drug/alcohol problem like you said you were going to in a post recently.

Also why is this in general wake?

Alex wow lol pot is an herb its not anywhere close to as harmful and dangerous as alcohol and chemicals....... I will never quit smoking. And not because its "cool"..... its a lifestyle.

I do realize that all holidays are essentially what YOU make of it, but no1 celebrates Christmas to be in the cool crowd.

yookyle, Why not? I know a handful of people and know of a lot more, who have graduated up the drug ladder after smoking pot most of their lives. Take Zack for example. No one starts with Heroine sorry dude.

-=AlexXx=-, why not? because heroine is a completely different drug then marijuana,its physically impossible to overdose from marijuana. I understand your whole afterschool special "ladder" thing but noone tries hard drugs because of marijuana or "pier pressure" thats all because of the person.beleive me I had two friends die of heroine overdose in highschool and as much as it bothers me I know it was there intent to try and abuse that drug not because who was doing it just because they wanted that perfect high.

fahglexxx you dont smoke. thats fine. but like Thumper said "if you dont have nothing nice to say dont say nothing at all". And lets see.. St Patties, Cino De Mayo, July 4th, Octoberfest. That right there is already 4 "holidays" I'm willing to bet my DUI fees on that you will glady celebrate with a few drinky drinks.

So does it really bother you that much when people who partake in a different relaxant than you prefer choose to celebrate one day out of the year by, like you said doing the, "same as any other day, you sit around and get high with some friends, get the munchies, eat some junk then pass out."

And as for asking why celebrate 420? Really? Were you around when St Patty banished the snakes from Ireland? You even Irish? Were you there fighting the French in Mexico on May 5th? Any family that is Mexican? What other holidays are you out celebrating that really you have no connection too?

And no, Christmas wasnt started as a "cool" crowd but it was one way for the church of rome to bring the pagans into christ and what not.

And one last question for you buddy, what is your beef with THC? Do you honestly detest it that much that ANYTIME a single thread or post is made on the subject you jump to the front of the "fiznackling stoners praising this shizzle" bus, but ALWAYS back it up with "I have plenty of friends who smoke and Im cool with it line?"

Steven M, As I mentioned above, any given avid drinker drinks just as much on any other day of the year. Yes I may drink on St. Patties day and Cinco de Mayo, but i drink just as much any other day, the only reason i may choose to drink more any any occasion is because of great drink specials and I dont do it then post on my facebook wall WOOO I HAD A BEER! I just looked at my facebook and nearly 85% of the recent status updates have been something related to 420. Even on ws.com we have a whole "Drunk Thread" for every day of the year. We only have this thread regarding ONE day of smoking weed.

And i do not "detest" pot. I "detest" the people who try to act cool by doing it. I have a neighbor who smokes every single day, i can smell it in the halls. He also deals a great deal. There is always a high amount of traffic in my corridor and knocking on his door. Tomorrow is going to be JUST like any other day for him he will wake up play some video games have some friends over to smoke some weed and probably go to his job at Pac Sun blazed as usual. He may come home and smoke some more... or have a few beers.

On the other hand there are the people who smoke every day or just frequently who are getting excited to talk about 420 with everyone they encounter today, tomorrow and the rest of the week, possibly even for the next few months saying how much they smoked on 420. We get it you smoke weed, your cool.

I am not intolerant of THC as you claimed, ive smoked, ive ate brownies, ect.... But to make a holiday out of it when you do it anyway? I get it people need attention and acceptance.... I guess im not looking for that from you guys or anyone else.
