| The Kid, for some reason it seems like athletically built people consistently make wakeskating look better(excluding George Daniels). But I could just be homosexual and not know it yet. |

Jama, now you do. Just playin man....or am I? hahaha
Now that's one thing that wakeskating seems to be missing sometimes, a sense of humor, an ability to make fun of its self.
Too many that think there's gotta be some kind of validity proven. In reality though, when you really try to prove someting is valid it shows just the opposite all too many times.
Fark it, it's the infant of board sports, let it teethe, let it grow at the pace it naturally will, and not at a pace like some immature teenager that thinks they're more grown up than they really are and spends their entire adult life wishin they would've done things differently and not tried to rush and force things. |

I wanna know why everyone hates on my THICK ASS FOAM PIMPIN TOP.
FOAM FTMFW!
I am kinda surprised that people hate on certain people because of their looks. That kind of attitude is barbaric and primitive.
Frankly, if you skate I have no problem with you. _________________ Dick Dale for President! www.dickdale.com

jacque_mehoff, why did it take five pages before somebody finally came up with that fundamental question? I'm totally with you and I would definitely like to know why there's so many people on here ranting about it!
My thoughts on foam:
1. the grip of foam (I'm riding the old lf-grip (think like '06 or '07) is a lot stronger than brand new grip tape
2. the consistency of its grip is a lot better. I rode griptape once for the time of one month and I had to regrip after two weeks because I felt it was worn down. water, sand/rocks down mix well with griptape imo too.
3. in the long term it's a lot cheaper than regular griptape.
4. I personally dislike getting all scratched up by grip - my hardcore skateboard days are over - at least somewhat (now, before some of you like to call me a puss, please go to youtube and search for "jens bach" *edit: link- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSDjpQrrXtI)
5. last but not least - you hardly wear down shoes. all of our equipment is already quite expensive, not to mention the costs for riding itself |

bachlonso,
its all in the way you want the board to feel.
1. i don't really like brand new grip because its almost too sticky to where it doesn't want to leave your feet.
2. As far as consistency, after the first week or two when the super grippy feel goes away it stays about the same for at least another 3 months.
3. Most people are willing to spent the extra $15 every 3-6 months for grip and thats if their board even last that long (or their season). Also, you're wakeskating, spending 15-20 bucks every 3 months on grip is nothing compared to how much you spend on wakeskating in one season on gas, oil, a cable pass, a board, blah blah blah.
4. you gotta pay to play?!
5. my shoes usually fall apart from being wet all the time. the only shoes that griptape destroys is that mesh crap that are slapped onto some old design so it can be sold as a "wake" shoe.
Another reason i prefer grip is because it's flat, i hate all the little bumps and designs they put on foam grip because they are like little speed bumps when you have to slide your foot, like for flip tricks, and it takes away from the shape of the board. _________________ HOTDOGS! |

One thing that usually drives me crazy is how fake people can be in interviews. Not just in wakeskating, but all sports. I don't wanna hear lame rehearsed answers everytime, i'd like to hear some real opinions and see the effort and willingness to be there. One example from wakeskating was when the obscura guys did stokemeter. I didnt have a problem with the answers they were giving, but at one point you could hear danny hampson on his phone in the background complaining to a friend "nothing man, just doing some stupid stoke interview thing". Ive heard alot of great things about danny as a person, but i just dont like hearing what was going on was all an act. That being said, there are alot of trues out there that put the effort in. Like reading nicks posts on here is awesome for me, because its the true shizzle and real opinions that get an outsider motivated _________________ party.

wakeskate companies need to step it up and get decks in shops.
if hype, lf, and cwb are the only decks in shops thats all kids will know of. i try to limit the amount of skates i order from wakeboard companies, but its hard to put skates on the wall when you cant even get skates.
i just love wakeskating so fùcking much. i want kids to enter the sport with a positive experience. i hate selling skates and feeling guilty about it after. |

wakemitch, I agree, while I ran a shop, it was so difficult to order boards outside of LF, CWB and Hype, so I have a couple byerly skates, and the rest were LF, minus an onset. I have more faith in LF boards than CWB or Hype, but I would have loved to have sold Oak or Integs in the shop, I would have felt so much better about myself selling skates to a kid if that was the case. _________________ 10101 |

One question that really annoys me whenever anyone talks to me about wakeskating (either a new acquaintance or old friend who hasn't seen me ride) is "that's cool, what can you do?" sometimes followed by "oh my friend's sister's ex-boyfriend can kickflip a skateboard, you can't do that yet?!"
I wish I could just immediately take them out and give them the joy of wakeskating so they can realize there is so much more to it than the technical tricks. |
