All this is fine and dandy until you want a decent job. Even a lot of lower paying jobs are drug testing now because of the very high demand of any job in the US. All this is great, i dont disagree with legalizing weed, but its gunna take A LONG time before anything significant passes or happens. Then if it does, its gunna be hella expensive, prob WORSE then cigs, prob still illegal to grow/distribute/carry more then a certain amount...Its not like this topic is on the top ten list of politicians... we can hope and pray but it's probably going to be so long before this happens, if ever. the country may fail before we get that far. i mean who needs the thousands of jobs it would create growing, harvesting, drying, packaging, delivering, selling, distributing, taxing, regulating, etc. we could get rid of this damn deficit a little bit, and it would be harder to get for kids. but im just a dumb american citizen so

mojo, LOL, so your saying (presuming that you smoke weed) if they legalized it and started selling it in stores you would quit buying from your dealer that youve been buying from for years that smoke you out all the time, that he lives off of simply selling, and maybe growing a bit of weed in his back yard. He would prob be cheaper and easier, and you would prob get more and he wouldnt charge you huge federal taxes? This is all hypothetical, presumably, for you, but for most of pot smokers its a reality. I understand that it "could" make us some money, but the start up costs and the fact that dealers aren't gunna stop dealing because thats all they know will never create a significant revenue for America, there are just to many criminals.

I don't smoke, but I am for the legalization/decriminalization.

As far as jobs and drug testing go, it would be a prescription drug. What could they do? It is legal for you to smoke. Do they drug test people for xanax, oxycotin, or other prescription drugs? Not that i know of because it is legal for them to do (if they have a prescription).

If there was all out legalization I think that overtime it would be like the cigarette industry. From my understanding, good weed is hard to grow and it takes the right environment. It is expensive to grow in your house because of all the things you need such as lighting, ventilation, etc. Overtime, it will just be easier to go down to the convenience store and buy a pack of joints.

Thats just my opinion, feel free to disagree.

-=AlexXx=-, If you look at places in the united states where medical marijuana is legal, the prices from the dispensaries are the same. With your medical license you are able to grow, have as much as one ounce with you at all times, and are able to sell to any dispensary in the county. I advocate the legalization just because of the amount of money that our federal government spends on trying to regulate and "stop" weed to getting to its consumers. Wouldn't you agree that whether or not weed is illegal in the united states or not, people would smoke it? Whether it be illegal or legal it will be just as easy to grow and and sell and smoke, it's just whether or not it's worth going to jail for. I dont understand the issues that people have with it, 13,846 people in 2008 died from alcohol related car accidents, 2015 so far this year. Each year, 443,600 people will die from smoking cigarettes. Look at the table on this link, http://drugwarfacts.org/cms/?q=node/30. Now explain to me why marijuana is should be illegal again?

Ive lived in Colorado for the past 10 years. I have watched this whole thing go down here. This is a shift in paradigms. I'm sure this is very similar to prohibition in the 30s. MMJ is here to stay. I'm just hoping states like Colorado make smart decisions and more solid regulations so other states have a model. California is still going through a mess of a time and Colorado has opened the gates in the past year.

I would much rather have people medicating with herb than eating prescription drugs. I do not think it is for everyone and people need to realize that. In a country where people drink alcohol, eat prescription drugs for pain, depression, etc., and cigs and mcdonalds cheeseburgers are legal, than marijuana should be legal too.

Contact your state representative and support it responsibly. This could be a great source of revenue for America and a way for more people to relax knowing that they are not disobeying the law.

Andrew MassIVE, If you read my first post you can see i wrote that do not disagree with the legalization of marijuana. I do not agree with it being illegal because of many of the things you posts, i dont know what you think your doing trying to show me statistics i already know and have learned about in several drug/society classes in school. Im simply stating that its not going to happen over night, its not going to happen by the end of the year, and i HARDLY think it will happen by the end of this decade, possibly a bit of head way but no real legalization. Im not saying i dont want it to happen, but im just being realistic.

I read a article in my university press about NORML (sp?) that reform group for marijuana. I had no idea that it had been founded in 1970, and to put it lightly i dont see any significant reform besides a few dispensaries for medical use and maybe this decriminalization effort... which i think is pretty much just for high school stoners who don't have jobs yet anyway, or don't plan on ever working outside a gas station.

Also Andrew, the whole "growing it yourself" thing is really insignificant also. If you are a patient you have the right to grow enough for yourself. And these dispensaries are for medical use. Why are others taking advantage of this. I feel like thats like taking chemo-therapy for fun, obviously not the same but if you think about it people take prescription drugs all the time to "get fu<ked up" and "deal with their problems" when in reality they are just selfish kids who dont know what they are doing and trying to be "cool".

I do agree that legalizing it will help with alot of issues in America reguarding depression, and other things like that, i do agree ciggarettes, obesity and alcohol are killing more people in the world but all i am trying to point out is that as excited as we get about these small baby steps its going to take a LONG LONG LONG time for any real head way in this "fight".

_ _ years down the road it will be legal. People will look back, just like we do now about when alcohol was illegal and laugh at how ridiculous this is.

I just moved to CO and got my MMJ Card... the prices at the dispensaries are very similar to street prices but the quality and selection is unbeatable.

Its kinda like the wild west out here now, anything goes. I would like to see more regulation and make it truly legit.
