Pray for the people there, I'm watching TV right now and they say the aftershocks are still happening.

Does anyone know how those 'text here and we'll give money' things work? T

hat and the thing where if you collect soda can tabs and fill a milk jug, they pay for someone's chemo treatment or whatever. It just never made sense to me...

GnarShredd, I believe it is a philanthropist's way of not only helping out the person who needs treatment but also encourages other people with less money to do something that costs them little to no money to be generous which can affect the lives of those around them simply by collecting something they would otherwise throw away and them knowing they did something beneficial for someone else will affect them in the long run to become an overall happier and kind person. So the guy with money pays for it all but only after others share the same heart for the person needing something.

That could be entirely wrong but that's just how I think it works.

Oh, and the philanthropist might not be an individual but could be a whole company as well.

*Just realized that a lot of the cell phone ones probably just charge the donation to your bill at the end of the month.

kornhouse, Seems a little goofy, but I guess it makes sense. In the end, they get to give money to the cause AND increase awareness of whatever it is that they are supporting; therefore hopefully driving other people to give in the same way, kind of a snowball effect.

Since the US is already 12 trillion dollars in debt (whatever the fück that means) it would make a lot more sense to print more fake money to help this, rather than to continue destructing what we're already doing.
