I would have to say the OG cassette 3D concaves, pretty much every wood skate that has came out since then pays homage to those boards, and after they came out it was pretty much like "wakeskating is here to stay." _________________

soy escuala, there's a difference between using a concept and stealing a shape. I would not compare other companies producing bi-levels (that use a concept but still have a different shape and whatever else) to any other company blatantly re-producing a shape to a "t". _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

But I don't understand why a company doesn't work or talk with Thomas and make like the exact same shape and just say that it was designed by Thomas and it's just a remake of the 4-trac by a different company. Just saying it seems pretty possible and everyone likes them so much it just seems like the thing to do. _________________ Sincerely, James Giosmas |

jgiosmas, Thomas might not want someone else manufacturing his shape. If they have issues and the boards start falling apart it could be bad for his name even though he had nothing to do with it. _________________ facebook.com/TheLiquidPlayground

scott a, Yeah I guess that's true but I still feel like some company could figure out some sort of deal with him and I think if they started falling apart it would make the company look bad not Thomas but I understand what you're saying. _________________ Sincerely, James Giosmas |

Thomas isn't going to put out a wakeskate just to make money. It's all or nothing, and he's not ever going to bring cassette back as anything smaller than it was.
Wakemitch, there were problems with the 04 decks but they also produced very few decks that year (I heard something like only 100 aaron reed pro models were produced, but I don't know if that's accurate or not because memories change). And as you know some of the early bi-levels had problems, but again, the entire line did not fall apart on people. Quite frankly, I agree with Scott. Even though there were manufacturing problems, Cassette was thomas' baby entirely.
As far as the LF reed shapes go, the 06 reed is definitely close to the 4-trac in shape. I bet it would be a fun deck to ride because I already liked the way those impulses popped. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

I have a 05 4-Trac in perfect condition....then again it has never been gripped or ridden......It certainly looks like it would not last very long, it is a very light, thin concave skate. _________________ Bindings? We don't need no freaking bindings.... |
