Hi all, I'm looking for a good beginner board (me) that can work for intermediate-advanced riders as well (my friends). I'm open to any brand, model or year. FYI, I weigh about 150 and am 5'11. What board size would that be?

I've got around $75 to spend (shipped to Columbus, OH 43214), so I obviously don't expect a pristine board. Ideally, your board would be a couple years old, scratched to shet, but perfectly ridable and from a quality manufacturer.

This last week I've been shredding (or atleast getting up on Rolling Eyes ) my friend's hyperlite Catalyst. I'd be really happy with a catalyst of my own.

Thanks for any responses. Looking forward to getting more involved in the wakeskate community!

Well...

There's alot of things to consider, like what tpye of riding you do (Skate or wake to wake styles), Weight, and everything else.

But that does not matter, so just look in the classifieds section. Look for an old concave board, around 41", the mid range.

I think I'll be leaning toward the skate style because my jetskis don't throw much of a wake. However, I do sometimes ride my friends' boats, so wake to wake wouldn't be out of the question.

Will do! Smile

I was second in line for the vinyl! That was a sick deal.

Been watching both of those. I think that I would outgrow the scape really fast (plenty of experience skateboarding and snowboarding), and I couldn't find much info about that CWB since he didn't list the year, length, or model.

Been watching this too. Just don't like the color, and it's a little out of the range I was trying to spend.

PM billyolds.

He had an old new blank in decent shape I was trying to get hooked up with a friend...
He ended up not having the flow, but I think it was right in your price range..

Are new's really superior to the other brands? I can't find much on them from other sites, but I would definitely trust an enthusiast site over others! Is it more of a specialized niche board than hyperlite of LF?

It's all a personal thing.
People will give you their idea of what the "best" deck is. but in the end it's all about what feels good for you. I do however think that most people on this site all pretty much gravitate towards the independent companies rather than the beasts like hyperlite and what not.

I think the reason people are throwing New out there is because of your budget and what you are looking for. Very nice shapes and seem to be durable. Explore.

Use the search feature (although I'm terrible with it)
There will a lot of your questions answered and a lot of discussion of different decks!

Think I did pretty well considering that it's brand new. Thanks for all your help -- can't wait to go shredding. Hit me up if you live in Columbus OH!

Shocked Couldn't be further from the truth...

There are definitely crappy flat decks out there (just as there are crappy concaves and there are bi-levels), but a good flat deck can be shredded soooooo nicely. I used to swear by the old Kampus K39 (2003), then the cheapest available wakeskate, and learned most of what I know now on that board...
