Well, I'm at my lake house right now and I finally took the plunge and bought a wakeskate yesterday. I've been looking forward to it for a long time and always thought that it looked really fun. I have never done any wakeboarding, just skiing and slaloming. Anyway the board I bought was a 2009 Liquid Force Faction (42). I don't know what it is exactly that I'm doing wrong. I was thinking maybe the board I got is too big for my size but I'm not sure so you guys can let me know. I am 6FT tall and weigh 145, (skinny I know). I'm not sure exactly what it is that I'm doing wrong. Also for right now I am trying without fins. I put them on for a bit and tried but I got closer when I had them off. Then again I found out my dad was pulling me up way too hard when I had the fins on. Ever since we found out he was pulling me up too hard and he has done it slower I've gotten a lot closer. I feel like I'm just right there. Any suggestions or tips?

dont dig your heels in, and just sort of let it happen is what i always say to people learning. also wait until your out of the water and on plane before you turn your board to which ever side you prefer.

hope i helped!

I have been digging my heels in big time! Maybe that's the problem. Glad to hear the board isn't too big. Thanks for the advice!

let the boat do the work cousin.......don't try and pull yourself up, just stay cooped up in a ball with your legs bent and keep them in between your arms bent as well. slow starts i have found work best. so give her a holler next set and just sit back like your in an easy chair and keep that board out of the water a bit so she can climb out of the water easier. don't let her squirm on ya and don't let her pull you over the handle bars, get behind that a$$ like yous snoop d o double gg. good luck.

i tell everyone i teach keep ur knees locked against your chest until the board is on top of the water then start extending your legs as u lean back and it will stand u up on its own.
also remember that the board often gets sucked down before it pops back up. people see its going under and often give up.

good luck!

Gettitting up first time is a b*tch so don't kill yourself for having trouble.

have your dad slip the boat into gear without throttle so the idle pulls you slowly. Get your feet placed on the board and let your dad know once you have both hands on the handle. Then, as your dad accelerates, let your butt move to your ankles and pay attention to what the board is doing. Don't dig your heels or try to get up too quick. you should pop out of the water fairly cleanly and kinda be squatting on the board. Get up slow and turn whichever foot you are forward. Don't forget to pull down your boardshorts Wink

You are now wakeskating! Very Happy

This is what worked for me...

Thanks for all the advice guys. I finally got up today! I actually had my dad start off a lot slower and I tried keeping the board up a little higher; not quite as deep so it planes off easier. It worked my first try. I didn't really go that far though. The board got a little squirmy after I was up for a while and had the board rotated around. I put the fins on as well when I was finished, so I'll give it another try later on today. Hopefully that will help for stability.

Thank you... Alright so I went back out again and did much better! It's so much fun. Unfortunately though the foam already started to come off and it already got a tear in it. lol. So I went back and swapped my board out for another one. A different board of course though.
