hey

We're currently building a winch out of a go-kart. It's already finished but the 5,5 hp engine with centrifugal clutch just isn't strong enough. So we need either a TAV or a bigger engine.

We saw a pretty cheap 13 hp engine with build in oil clutch.

pls check this link:
http://shop.wiltec.info/product_info.php/language/EN/info/p3549_Benzinmotor-9-6kW--13-PS--389ccm--Kartmotor-mit-Oelbadkupplung.html/XTCsid/3ae914aca54ec691b9924c3f0a9e0fb9

Buying this engine we wouln't spend a lot more money than buying a TAV and we can do deepwaterstarts with this engine.
I think the oilbath clutch is even stronger than a normal centrifugal clutch, am I right?

Does anybody of you guys got experience with oilbath clutches?

cheers

okay thanks, well the 9 hp version is 10 euro's cheaper so then we can better take the 13 hp, and I'm not sure if we can do deepwaterstarts with bigger guys like me on a 9 hp without TAV...

Anyone experience with an oilclutch? How does it react you think?

YaBro, What size sprocket and ID spool are you rocking? I have a 72 tooth with a 7.5" id spool and it goes just about 18 or 19 for me. I want a little more top speed i think.

I built a winch with a 6.5hp Honda with the oilbath clutch and it worked fine. Some french dudes on winchskating.com used the 13HP with that clutch and it pulled great.

The price is insanely good too for Germany!!!
Where in Germany are you from?

Okay,

I spoke to the guy of Gaboard from Hungary. He makes winches with oilbathclutches also. 10,5 hp I believe..
He said it worked fine but didn't have experience with dry clutches..

But I got the engine this morning. We tried to run it. Fuel and oil filled and it started on the first pull.. Straight from the factory. Very impressive.
It also runs really nice. Waaaaay beter than our old little Honda..hehe

But yeah, I think it's a great price also for this engine.. It's brandless but I think it will pull really good as far as I've seen it running now..

So now gotta wait till we got the sprocket and then make a testrun as quick as possible:) I'll put some pics/vids in here..

I'm not from Germany btw. From the north of the Netherlands..
Just ordered the engine from Germany because the same engine is 70 euro's cheaper in Germany..
