Post number one of hopefully many:
Instead of getting on and asking questions I spent the past two weeks researching the forums and various other sites looking to get into Wakeskating. My past has been Slalom and Wakeboarding, but have been dying to get into skating for about a year now. Found an 08 Oak Team for 150 and picked up some Globes that will hopefully be in Monday. My old man just got a Supra Launch and I live 10 minutes from Lake Tawakoni in East Texas. Nobody uses this lake for recreation, so this is going to be a fun summer! That's my introduction. See you guys around. |

No, there are other people who join and lurk before posting. They might be intimidated or something.
sanitariex, it sounds like you have a good set up! I think your lake situation is very similar to mine. People rarely recretate on our lake up north. Old people mostly fish...occassionally on the weekend some other dude will go out for a slalom set. Have fun! _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Well, there's no obstacles, but the lake is huge, and considering we're 30 minutes from Ray Hubbard, most of East Dallas goes there, and it's a nicer lake with restaurants and everything on it. Basically Ray Hubbard is a party lake with no room to move around. Lake Tawakoni has trailer parks surrounding it, so nobody has boats, lol. Every holiday weekend I have no trouble getting on the lake and having plenty of room to ride. There's an area of the lake with a fairly large hill running down the south coast with a bridge running perpendicular to that that blocks wind from almost any direction that hardly anybody uses. It's a great lake for recreation, kind of a hidden gem. Holler at me anytime you're in the area, I'll show you around, I need more weight in the boat anyways, ha. |

I've got something planned next weekend so I can't really leave town, unless you're talking about making a stop here? Beaumont's actually 5 hours from where I live.
gnargnar: You're on, I'll be in Denver in August and I'll let you return the favor, ha. |

Yeah, i live out on hubbard. it can get frustrating sometimes, but we have some really good spots. i like riding at new places, and lake t sounds rad! down to ride out there sometime for sure. only 30 minutes away isn't bad at all. |
