Great question. I would also like to promote myself. I'm not going to say why or what level of rider I am but I would love to get a sponsor... for free gear! YAY! That's why I do it. The rest of you "I'm in it for the riding" people are just lying to yourselves.

what people dont realize is that when you have sponsors you have to do just as much work for them to keep them happy (maybe more) as you would if you just had a job and earned money the old fashioned way
(at least from my experience)
sometimes being un-sponsored is better, you get more freedom to do what you want
