Looking to buy a releasable spool. Anyone got a bulletlines one there willing to part ways with or something?

Lodi Winching, When buying a releaseable spool make sure the collar where the pin is pulled, is nice and thick. I've seen some people on here having problems with the smaller collar ones... Often the small collars are not strong enough.
FYI - Release Winch Company also makes releaseable spools... They have the big collars too.

Rhino, yeah i was just thinking of doin that then putting it back on when its all the way pulled out, would it be best to take the chain off the sprocket, or take the cover off the tav and take it off there

I dont even have the cover on my tav. The belt will just slip right off after its warmed up a little. then once you have the required amount of rope out slap that mother sucker back on.

i've been thinking of mounting my sprocket to a backstopping sprag clutch - but i can't finad any in 1" diameter bores to fit the axle. but if i do, then it'll work just like a bicycle freewheel...

Yeah, a bike freewheel - thats what we need surely?
I can't be arsed to keep putting the belt back on, gonna take away too much riding time to be worth doing?
What the hell is a sprag clutch

you can't get in touch with released b/c he was probably the worst businessman in the world. my buddy and i debated about whether he was a closet heroin addict. it's a long story but i had to threaten him with having the cops come to his house b/c he had my winch for a long time b/c it did not work when i got it. he promptly returned my call after dodging bullet lines(his distributer) phone calls too.

nope, i wont work i had it on my 1st winch it will only alow the spool to move in the same direction without the axle moving, you want i to be able to move in the opposite direction
i am gonna use a tav 40 cause with that it should be a lot easier to walk the line back

this is a sprag clutch...

ride5 - I'd love to see what you're building. I was thinking about building one too, just a little ratcheting freewheel hub that mounts on a 1" axle and can take the 5 1/4" sprockets. It's probably harder than it looks.

looks like it should work, could make life alot easier. be cheaper to have one of these on the sprocket so there is only one bearing, but then having two bearings taking the load on the spool would make them last a bit longer.

robsmaze, martijn, there are differn't types. one way bearings.clutch bearings and sprags. Im using clutch bearings. they are strong as hell. and by using two on the spool they dont have to be as strong as one on the sprocket.
