| Wins Wake Games. I really have no idea how he still beats all the other riders, but he always seems to figure out a way. Pretty impressive that he has been in the sport since the beginning and has been able to evolve to the current way pros are riding and still win. Despite the fact that I really don't enjoy watching him ride, gotta give the guy props. |

| Yea dude, Grubbs has been going HUGE since like 03. Hes not quite as tech as the new age of riders, but his wake to wake tricks are almost unmatched. I cant believe he rides such a big skate...114 cm....damn |

| denskiesATX, its a big skate but think about how he rides. I bet he rarely rarely rarely rides behind a jetski and he definitely doesn't to many tricks in the flats. He basically just rides the wake and hits rails. I don't know if he can even do a kickflip. |

Kyle, yea I think you're right, I'm not sure if I've seen him throw a kickflip...ever. Much less a frontside flip, varial flip, etc....... His days are numbered. He can always fall back on his modeling career though ! |

his style is way too wakeboardy for me... i like ben horan or andrew p wayyy more... pushing more tech tricks instead of spins and grabs _________________ PAVT since '05/'06 |

| samcollett, yeah i've seen that vid, pretty good stuff right there. That wake is huge!! I can't imagine how much control he must feel like he is in being that he has been riding for so long on pretty much the same shape. He must feel like he is attached to the board at this point. |

yeah it's crazy. i agree with some of the other guys though. i like the separation between wakeboarding and wakeskating and because of that i'd rather watch more technical guys ride. grubb is insane though. _________________ i am the bear jew |

Wakeboardy: that's how people used to describe grubb's style back when the cassette dudes were owning the lip. I disagree with this because spins and grabs exist (and are important) in every other boardsport, and that's really just pigeonholing his style (he still does wake to wake shuv variations, bigspins, and was an early dude who was working on wake to wake kickflips). Anyway, It really depends on the terrain and how you use it. I'd be more worried if he was trying to whirlybird on a wakeskate or something.
And grubb can kickflip and whatever else. If you look back at asterisk, he landed the first sex change. He was also consistently on the podium back when wakeskating was on the pro tour and was pulled by a PWC. His style doesn't really reflect the heavy, heavy skate aesthetic a few riders bring to the water, but he's unique in his own right and his competitive record is downright amazing. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

| Don't quote me on this but I'm pretty sure there is a Hyperlite or Accurate banner of Grubb doing a varial above the door leading to the parking lot at the OWC Performance. |

I used to be on the Grubby-hater wagon, but over the past few years I've come to understand that there are many ways to be a great wakeskater and I've got a lot of respect for who he is and what he's done... _________________ √ |

why does it matter if he "cant" throw a frontside flip or a varial? is that what were defining in wakeskating now as good? do i have to land one to be good? and his days are numbered? did he not just win wakegames and get second in tj and out of the pond is about to hit the shelves which he is pretty much the only wakeskater in. i guess i just dont see where your coming from on all this _________________ Rockchalk |
