its got to run off a car battery or something. looks just like a starter. They have some kinda spooling mechanism also like a fishing rod would have to keep the line from building up on one side. there was definitely some thought put into this one. _________________ "Confucius say, man who stand on toilet high on pot" |

Right if it is electric it would be so quite. Hook some solar panels up to it and then you would have the first hybrid winch... lol

| there is a handle to roll up the rope. if that thing is spins the whole time could cause some injury. |

| I don't think that motor could handle the pressure from pulling someone. |

I dunno a starter can turn a engine over against all that engine compression. No tellin. the guy who posted it didnt give any info. _________________ "Confucius say, man who stand on toilet high on pot" |

You have to help the winch on the deep-water starts. That's what the red handle is for
Serious - good thing. I like most of the ideas. Looks like some electroscooter mechanism was used. _________________ Tolyans Hardfcukers Mob |

Nothing new to see here. Its a hang glider tow winch....they've been around for a while.
You hook it to a car and it unwinds the rope at a constant speed no matter how fast the car is moving. Once a certain line tension is reached the line auto releases. The little motor is a slow speed/no torque motor that just rewinds the line in after the hang glider is deployed. It's a pay-out winch i.e. it pays out the line at a constant line tension to eliminate jerkyness or slack providing smooth flight. From what I've found they sell for around $4,000 used...not sure about a new one.
an older version:
I cant see any practical use for wakeskating...could be wrong though. |

This a is electric motor not a starter. A car starter is only in use for a short time anyways.
Electric motors have instant torque which would be a good thing. but to get a motor that would last wouldn't be cost effective and would be huge and heavy. |
