| Quote: | Instead of a server carrying pitchers, a beer tap connected by plastic tubing to a keg in the bar's walk-in refrigerator is at the customer's table.
As each fresh glass of beer is poured, a meter embedded in the table registers the amount and the charge for each ounce, which depends on the brand of beer.
The going price for Budweiser is 17 cents an ounce.
"It's just like paying for gasoline, except we charge by the ounce instead of the gallon," Bailey said. |

Has anyone checked this out yet? Such a good idea!

Saw that at the Bar and Nightclub convention in Vegas a couple weeks ago. Seems like a good idea at first, but I don't think the reality would be great. First off, the amount of work just in running the lines would be insane. Second, you would have no way of regulating the amount someone drinks which could be bad for the bar.
Bet hey, maybe thats just me trying not to become obsolete.

edrex, if you read the article you could see that there is a meter reader inside that will let the bar know how much each table/person drank. Imagine how much better waiter/waitress service you would have without them being baffled with tabs and drink orders and what not

| I like it. Waiting on the wait staff for a refill can be a pain. Are you limited to one kind of beer per table though?

that is such a good idea. that could be really dangerous for the consumer too, you start drinking and not realize how much you have spent your just like more beer !!!!!! its only 17 cents an ounce. 200 ounces later
