He threw a backflip + indian air(?), either way he came down hard on his front tire, went over the handle bars and basically went jaw first into the ground.
| Quote: | Freestyle motocross star Jeremy Lusk, 24, has died as a result of head injuries sustained in a weekend crash during a competition in Costa Rica, and it's with a heavy heart that Outposts shares this news.
The Temecula rider passed away in his hospital bed late Monday night in San Jose, Costa Rica, while surrounded by his mother and father, Chuck and Gina Lusk; his wife Lauren, and mother- and father-in-law Lynne and Larry, along with fellow Metal Mulisha riders Brian Deegan, Ryan Hagy, Cameron Steele and Erik Apple.
Please keep Lusk and his family in your thoughts and prayers. He did his best to live life to its fullest and entertain, and for that his many fans are deeply appreciative.
An announcement on a memorial service is pending.

| i dont think any type of gear or protection could have prevented such an injury. has anyone else seen the video? its pretty disturbing watching someone's body go through that. When these guys are out there pushing those kind of limits, sometimes the limits push back and it doesn't end so pretty. i feel extremely sad for his friends and family. |

yeah, I don't think any gear would have helped either. The video made me cringe. I just thought it wouldn't be right to post it. _________________ It wasn't me |

In the x games he had a eerily similar crash doing the exact same trick. You can also find that crash on YouTube. Along with a video with Jeremy "Twitch" Stenberg who uses the Leatt brace. In it he said if I can't do the trick while wearing the brace then I don't need to be doing it.
Regardless if he was wearing the brace or not this is a very huge loss for the FMX world. RIP Jeremy and prayers for you and your loved ones. _________________

I definitely think a Leatt brace would have helped a little (how much, who knows), however his neck rolled sorta to the side & it's got great side roll protection...
Neck braces should be mandatory for any dirt bike related sports.
Horrible that this happened to him. He'll be missed... _________________ good people drink good beer ~ Hunter S. Thompson |

Oh my God. RIP Jeremy.
If anyone goes out riding, please wear proper equipment. I think that brace could have saved him. _________________ If you don't like my fire then don't come around. Cuz I'm gonna burn one down.

POPTART, I think I saw an interview of him saying that he endorses that product and will always wear one whenever he flips a bike. |

Ever since a kid I know is paralyzed from the waist down I've decided to wear a Leatt Brace... Honestly you can't even tell its there when riding mx, fmx i'm sure is different though. _________________

That was the worst crash I have ever seen. My heart goes out to his family, I can't even imagine what they are feeling right now. That made me feel sick to my stomach.
