Hey, my buddy just gave me a 32' dynex lcd screen, its a TV but it has a pc input, so i hooked it up to my desktop computer and am trying to use it as my moniter seeing as my other one is liek 15inch or something like that.... but ne way, i cannot get the resolution down any more then 1024x768, and that just looks MASSIVE and bubbly on this big screen, does anyone know what i could do to change it? I know how to change it in properties and such, but thats the best it gets, i read somewhere if i uninstall and reinstall my video drivers it will work, but im not 100% on how to do that. Help please? Thank you!

TTUFAN24, hahahaha....

Man, I don't know anything about this, but I'm kind of interested in monitor calibration. The colors on my monitor seem to appear way darker than normal, and I'm taking this WDMD class right now and the professor mentioned something about monitor calibration, but she couldn't show us becuase IT doesn't want tons of students messing with the monitors.

Anyway, that's my offshoot. Good luck, alexxx. maybe we'll be all be able to learn a little something here...

If your computer is 5+ years old your graphics card might not be capable of anything larger than 1024x768. New drivers won't fix that. If this is the case then you're gonna need to spend $50 or so on a new graphics card.

If you have XP, you can find out what graphics card you have by going into the Control Panel and selecting 'Display.' Right in the middle of the box should be the listing of what you have, like 'ATI Radeon X3905' or something. Then google that graphics card or go to the company's website to see if there is any updated drivers. If you have Vista, then you might consider just downloading the Windows 7 beta OS since it's free and a better OS even though it's still beta. Laughing

electricsnow- turning up the brightness on your monitor might help Very Happy
Here's a link that has some useful information about monitor calibration. There's also a few charts in there that you can use to adjust your brightness and contrast so that your monitor might look a bit better.

Some online sites are claiming you can reach higher resolution than your 1024x768 if you change the refresh rate to 75 hertz. If that doesn't work it looks like you're SOL and you need to get a new graphics card.

Do you like running it at 720p? I tried to convince my wife that she could use our 32" 720p tv for a monitor to surf myspace but she forced me to buy a laptop for her. I don't mind it for pictures and shizzle but to read text sucks sometimes.

Only difference between HDMI and DVI is that HDMI also carries sound. Both are digital so picture quality will be the same.
