Sky Show Tonight: Biggest, Brightest Full Moon of 2008

Summary of the article:
Tonight is a full moon, the brightest and biggest of 2008 because the moon is physically the closest it's been to us all of 2008... which makes it 14% larger in our night sky.

The last time we had the moon so close AND on a full moon was 1993! Probably around the time some of you were born Very Happy

Anyways check it out... it will be prettiest and largest looking right after sunset when the moon is rising tonight.

Thanks to LoGik for mentioning it, I didn't realize tonight the moon would be so close!

Remedies
Various methods have existed for removing the werewolf form. In antiquity, the Ancient Greeks and Romans believed in the power of exhaustion in curing people of lycanthropy. The victim would be subjected to long periods of physical activity in the hope of being purged of the malady. This practice stemmed from the fact that many alleged werewolves would be left feeling weak and debilitated after committing depredations.

In medieval Europe, traditionally, there are three methods one can use to cure a victim of werewolfism; medicinally, surgically or by exorcism. However, many of the cures advocated by medieval medical practitioners proved fatal to the patients. A Sicilian belief of Arabic origin holds that a werewolf can be cured of its ailment by striking it on the forehead or scalp with a knife. Another belief from the same culture involves the piercing of the werewolf's hands with nails. Sometimes, less extreme methods were used. In the German lowland of Schleswig-Holstein, a werewolf could be cured if one were to simply address it three times by its Christian name, while one Danish belief holds that simply scolding a werewolf will cure it.[1]

Conversion to Christianity is also a common method of removing werewolfism in the medieval period.

dang! I couldn't stop staring at it while I was driving too. There was one car up in front of me who swerved once... bet it was the same deal for them as well. It was huuuuge on the horizon tonight just after sunset!

just had a little fire outside and took some shots of the moon. it looked so nice out there tonight not any clouds near the moon. very beautiful night

DAMNIT my camera died in the middle of me trying to figure out a good fstop, iso, and shutter speed to do this thing, wish i had a tripod my shots were to blurry from such a low shutter speed

The next Full moon and perigee (when moon is super close to earth) will not happen again until November 14, 2016
