| The SST has rails, all boards have rails, they are not intended to be reshaped but they can be reshaped if you so desire. However, this would most likely reduce the overall performace of said SST. Boards with rails intended to be reshaped to fit the riders preference have a Urethane type sidewall or something of similar substance and function. The most practical method for your unpractical choice of reshaping a board with non-reshapable rails would be to use a grinder or sander. If you deem it necessary to prove your masculinity then i would suggest widdling. |

why would you reshape them?
the people who designed that board probablly put hours and hours into designing them to there best preformance. and i doubt that your single attempt at making them better will work.
but good luck! _________________

dont be scared just do it properly.
though IMO the liquid force stuff has some great edges on their stuff. just my opinion though.
something i posted a while back here.......
"changing the edge of a board will make it ride quite differently.
i say experiment. change only one or two things at a time so you know what change affects what. dont just hack it up to make it different than it is.
when there is more surface area ( aka: more rounded edge) the board will spread out the water tension among the larger area and actually sit/ride lower in the water. sharper edges will actually not "cut" into the water like one would think. it took me a while to get this...but we would make three different edeges and ride them right in a row back to back and the results would speak for itself.
every wood wakeskate rider (that doesnt get boards for free thats is) should have a small supply of epoxy around. It takes a whole two minutes to mix the stuff and spread it on a wood wakeskate after sanding the edges or after some damage has occurred. you can get a good size container at a boat store for about 30 bucks that will re-coat a whole board at least once. most people can make a PBJ sandwich right? well there ya go.
Start with 80 grit on a palm sander and using light pressure work the length of the board's edge slowly and evenly. dont stay in any area for too long and keep it moving. its a feel you can get very good at .....practice on some old skateboards or junk plywood first. Then move up the grit scale 120, 220, etc... until the rough 80 grit lines are gone. The higher you get in grit it will stop shaping and just be smoothing the shape you have. then apply a sealer or wood clearcoat varnish, epoxy, or whatever your using to keep the water out.
