STS-126/Space Shuttle Endeavour
Launch Date: Nov. 14, 2008
Launch Time: 7:55 p.m. EST

Uidzero and I are driving to the coast to watch it first hand since this may be one of the last night launches ever (shuttle program ending in 2010 and most are daytime launches). Night launches are amazing, you can see them all up the east coast of FL/GA/and even the Carolinas on a clear night.

Roll Call?

I think that would be a really cool thing to see, too bad I'm not closer. I could try it from the Carolinas, but it is anything but a clear day/night here today. It is raining like crazy, and expect way more tonight. Might miss the shuttle launch, but all the dried up winch spots should get better !!! I might have to at least give it a look and see if I can see it from here.

Chad H, not at all...it just depends on how clear the weather is between FL to you. People in PA and NY have reported seeing night launches... granted they are very low on the horizon because they are so far from it.. but if it's real clear out tonight, look to the southeast sky and get high up off the ground because the further away you are, the lower on the horizon it will appear Smile

Also, due to dust and contaminents in the atmosphere... the further away you are, the cooler looking the color the light is. (albeit dimmer)

Well unfortunately we are leaving at 6:30ish from our house.. but we're going down about halfway down 3 to the draw bridge. We're gonna either park before or after it and walk up to the top to get a good view. Depending on traffic we should be there just before launch.

Even if we don't make it all the way to the spot on time, we'll at least be closer to see it than our house in otown. I'm stoked, I just want the beach to launch.

Here's a sweet blog on nasa's website of exactly (up to the minute) what's going on for the launch:
