of being seriously injured

Cons
1) the obvious not skating
2) cash $ in hospital bills/ surgery
3) if hurting dominant hand, doing everything switch ( writing, jerkin, wiping ass, brushing teeth, showering, lighting lighters, eating, having things in right pocket, driving, multi tasking........)
4) moving away from Orlando (or where ever u r stationed ) 2 recover
5) spending all ur $ at bars cuz theres nothing else 2 do but booz..
6) not sleeping in ur own bed
7) injured spot never feeling the same

pros

1) catching up with old buddies
2) catching up on every tv show that you never cared to watch
3) taking semester off school
4) eating pain pills like skittles
5)spending all ur $ at bars cuz theres nothing else 2 do but booz.. ( goes both ways)

I'm sure there are more.. so elaborate, im sure every has has been at least minutely injured from time 2 time...

Grasso, dude i feel your pain, about exactly a year ago at this time, i was laying in a hospital bed with so much pain and so bad of a fever i didnt know where the hell i was. And just today i hyperextended my knee really bad and i cant walk. It sucks major balls.

Everything will be behind you before you know it. Just keep your head up and stay positive. The worst thing you can do right now is go into depression mode.

Youll be better before you know it. Everything that is different now, you'll get used to. Youre still alive. Live life and love it...

The worst part about having a serious injury is working really hard to rehab it and then losing it all again. That happened with my knee injury. I had my ACL and menisucs repaired, and then they had to go back in and remove 3 layers of scar tissue. From there, I ended up with an infection and going back to square one (I still don't have a full range of motion). I was pretty depressed for some time after that as well.

But on the flip side, those sorts of things really help you learn to appreciate what you have. Walking is a pretty simple gift when you spend a couple of months on crutches. And when you can't ride for a year, getting back on a board of any kind is always a treat (if that's what you really love to do).

I also have some fond memories from that period of time that were really positive, because that was a fun time to be watching wakeskating. Wakeskating was on the pro tour, D won the detroit stop, sfumato came out that year, having a brand new 4-trac that I couldn't ride because I blew my knee out days before I was going to go up north...small stuff, but fond none the less.

Oh, and I also watched a lot of TV and drank a lot of that Orange mountain dew. Laughing

Grasso, ism just recovring from my broken leg its been like 2 and a half mmonths, all i did was smoke hookah, beat it and play skate all day every day. Showers were limited which sucks. But when your out of the cast it feels like no time at all you were in it. Keep your head up youl get through. Also caught up on a lot of shows too.

Get a camera and shoot for your riding friends. It's kinda hard to do at first but at least you're out there with them and sharing the stoke plus it will give you more drive to get back at it and charge harder then before...

That's how it worked for me with the OWC cable ripped my arm open!
