Hey there,
totally new to the forum but a bunch of my kiteboard friends and I have been using a friends grinch to hit rails and booters and have decided to make our own winch.
All the parts have been ordered except for the line..
I've read a ton of posts and some people like the 7/64 amsteel while others swear by the bulletline. I think we are leaning towards 1/8 amsteel for a little more nick resistance.
What are people using and what are they happy with. 7/64 seems really thin. We will be using the winch mostly at the beach (fresh water beach).
Like to keep the costs down somehwat so i can buy some hopups for the honda |

| 1/64 of an inch is hardly anything to stress about. The reason you hear so much about those two lines is because they are the best. Choose one of those and you will be fine. |

just so you know beach winching is very hard on both your winch and your line....
i dont like the coating on bullet line but i also have seen line deteriorate at the beach relatively quickly.... now you just have to decide if the price of the bullet line is worth the improvement of quality
either one will work.... imo uncoated rope pulls better but bullet line lasts longer
(i have gone thru many lines) _________________ PAVT since '05/'06 |

the coating tends to catch and release on the fairlead giving you a inconsistent pull... especially at the beach cause of the sand and salt...
without the coating it tends to slide much smoother cause of the direction of the threads.... when going down gaps and such having a good pull seems to help alot _________________ PAVT since '05/'06 |

| skatewake41, much smoother pull. i have cut the coating off numerous bullet lines bec the pull is so inconsistent and it only gets worse the more u use and abuse your line. plus it makes the line heavier so it gets caught in the weeds easier and makes it harder to get the line up and out of the water on longer pulls. |

do you feel that the rope will last as long with out the coating. My bulletline is cut in one place but i taped it back together, i am thinking about taking it off. _________________ l_o/------------------------<l |

| skatewake41, i have had the same uncoated bullet line for a long time now with zero problems. of course stripping the coating off does make the line less durable. If you decide to take the coating off your line make sure u have lots of free time and a buddy to help you. if you need some pointers let me know. |

i took the coating off last night with a razor blade and it took like 1 hour and i am going to ride it today and see if it was worth it. _________________ l_o/------------------------<l |
