well, i just started applying for college. Right now I'm workin on my UCF application.
are there any things to say, or "tricks" to help persuade the college people to accept you?
Or like some key things to add in my essays, community service, extracurricular activities etc?
thanks! _________________

How is the guidance office at your high school? One thing that might help is to go talk to someone there who knows what UCF looks for. Tell them what your GPA/SAT/extracurriculars are and see if they can give you advice on where you might need to improve things (or at least carefully word them ). _________________ facebook.com/TheLiquidPlayground

make a resume.........put anything on it that you think sounds good..........all clubs, service organizations, volunteer projects, hobbies, sports, whatever..........you just have to use what you think they want to hear
when it come to essays you have to articulate your ideas and maybe even use some big words.............one of my essays was supposed to be about something you enjoy to do and why....... I actually wrote about wakeskating.......it got me into the Honors College!.......try to think outside the box........if that makes any sense.........say what they want to hear but not like how everyone one else will answer
but yeah your guidance counselor might be able to help you.........mine didnt do anything for me _________________ Losers say that they'll try.............winners go home and F^&k the prom queen. |

| EJazzle, all you have to do to get in is have high enough test scores, unless you are trying to get into Stanford or ivy league then the only reason you will have to worry about an essay or stuff in the app is if your scores are below the standard the school sets. Don't sweat it, just kick the shiz out of the ACT/SAT. |

| i know a lot of people who didn't get into ucf because of either not doing the essay or doing poorly on it. the whole college application process is very competitive, what makes you better then the other people applying? |

you have to get the right scores on ur act or sat thats about all it boils down to. If you want to get into ucf you should find someone that got in there and ask them if they really had to do anything else _________________ jesus walked on water, i skate on it |

Make sure you do the essays and do a good job on them, I had a 3.87 weighted, and really didn't do all that well on SAT's or ACT's but, still got accepted to every major university in florida except UF and I didn't want to go there anyway. The essay plays a bigger role than you think, they look at GPAs and test scores first and when they have to cut down from a huge number of entries they start seeing who bothered to write an essay and what they had to say. I have no clue what I wrote about but I'm good at writing papers off the top of my head like the night or morning before they're do and blowing my teachers minds, even though i really don't enjoy writing, go figure. Most of the time you can write one solid essay and rework it a little to work for every school you apply at.
Lemme know if you need help with anything. |

For your essay:
| Quote: | | maybe even use some big words |
Only use words if you know what they mean...and this doesn't include looking up their definition in a dictionary.
Triple check your spelling/syntax (watch for run on sentences, comma splices, etc).
Don't (do not!) use contractions.
And most importantly give you essay to someone else to read before submitting it. Trust me. This is one of the best things to do when writing an essay. Even if it's just your parents...a second party will be able to point out errors that aren't obvious to you...or passages that don't make sense (even if they make sense to you). Doing this will eliminate any basic errors in your writing and any major flaws in the papers content. Like I said, parents/older siblings are good for this...but if you can hunt down a friend who is an English major or Philosophy major to do this...even better. |
