Unicycles are the tried and true fixed gear. However, I did ride one of these fixed gear bikes and found them to be pretty fun.

I ride a single speed road bike, and I'm not really all that stoked on the fixie fad that is happening right now.

Great for training though if you're working on your cadence.

Greg T, when I asked someone why they were into fixed gear bikes (because I wanted to understand it, since it is sweeping through like a plague), and they cited cardiel. Part of it is getting older or something, and biking is easier on your body...I can't pretend to know why people like it as they do...it is weird to watch the unlikeliest people start biking. It seems like a weird fad for some people...they start doing it because everyone else is doing it (I'm not saying that's always the case). But anyway, jovante turner is another hero in the fixie world.

electricsnow, when I see a random person on a bike that is definately not riding by choice I like to play a game where you guess why thier license got suspended... "That guy got a DUI!" "That guy is too old to drive" "That homeless guy just stole that little girls bike"
Starts great debates with your passengers.

fixies are crazy. Ive never riddin one, but ive thought about getting one. Having to pedal constantly would take some getting used to. That includes going down hill because the pedals will be moving as fast as the rear wheel. Ive been looking for a 60's-80's road bike for cruising on.

Fix-gears are cool but it's really all about fix-pushing, hahaha! Check it.

Took me long enough, but here is a cell phone picture of mine from my ride today. She's pretty much done, just need to get rid of the brake hood that isn't being used, cut down the brake cable, and maybe throw on some new bar tape, but all in all I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.
