Hey what do you guys think about a backpack winch? I know it will be way too small to do any deepwater starts, but i figured out that i can get a teeny 3.5hp motor, which should work(thats what the first ever winch used) but im gonna do some sketches and try to get them up soon. in the meantime, give me some of your ideas/comments

mr.foonis, Sounds sick to me. I thought the first used a 5.5hp though? I could be wrong. My knowledge of winch history is little. With such a small motor though it seems like it'd be lightweight and cheap as hell Very Happy

We had a mini winch 4 some pools in my friends back yard. and it had a pocketbike 3.5 hp. It worked great for the pools.but that is about it. It had no torque for deep water.like 1 foot deep. I would sugest a 65 dirt bike motor or a 50 motor.light an have lots of power.
Just make a normal winch you will be happy you did Very Happy

LFArmada, Perhaps that's not the only thing. What if there's a long way between the road and your spot? What if someone has a small car with no hitch to put a bigger winch on? Or even if maybe someone wants to take their winch on a plane? I think there could be lots of benefits to a smaller more carriable winch. Perhaps they won't be there for power or the best pull. But the convenience could be nice Cool

yeah thats my prob. my ride isnt big enough for a full size winch, so this is what im gonna try and do. i have this old hiking backpack that im gonna strip and bolt the frame on to. but yeah Slapdown, hit the nail right on the head there, plus i talked to a spokesperson for the pocket bike company and it should have some serious power, plus the motor can go 10,000+ rpm, so my spool is gonna be tiny and the whole thing is gonna be serious compact Cool Cool Cool Cool
