Hey I am pretty new to wakeskating, and am going out to the lake for the week. I just got a board, and decided to get these at a local skate/surf shop rather than ruin an old pair of old-school vans. They seem similar to the DVS dresden.
So basically are these worth the 29 bucks i paid. They seem to have plenty of mesh to let water drain out,(almost too much.)

Opinions and thoughts, please.
Thanks
Alright saw some old posts, kinda looks like they are alright. Looks like reed and Hampson wore a special version of them at one point. But still if anyone has an opinion on them. ie)they worth the 29 bucks, or should i just use the old vans and buy a wake-specific shoe later(like a DVS or Reef B2.
I like the Reefs B2's in Brown but no stores in Socal seem to have them. _________________ umm... what can I say, I wish I was around when the Bi-levels were hitn the shelves.

definitely worth the 29.00. And you're right, there was a team edition volari that was inspired by steve zissou and I think they're the first narla themed shoes (there are some in the "site museum').
you're also right in that there's a bit much mesh on those shoes. I think some of the better mesh shoes they've made, like the buywake kenyan or last year's triumph were good in that they had mesh pannels where you need it and some other more durable material where you need that as well.
now you're set--have fun! _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

stOAKed^ - Well I figured to just go for a higher end board from the start. I went with an 08 Hampson 41. The local shop had an 08 Reed that I was gonna get, but the corner laminate was damaged so I went with the Hampson, which with my understanding is Reeds board only an Inch shorter in this case.
(hopefully no rules against getting a board that is above you, lol)
Okay so sounds like the Volari should be a good shoe for the lake then. Now my only other question, was this intended to be a wakeskate shoe for the public. I cant imagine skating in that thing. _________________ umm... what can I say, I wish I was around when the Bi-levels were hitn the shelves.

The K-Man, DVS makes a mesh shoe to basically serve that dual purpose. I agree in that this design is not ideal for actual skating, but they are a good street wear shoe, and a shoe to wear in the water. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

Yeah, that's kinda why I went ahead with buying the board I did. I figured it would let me grow into it. Making it cheaper in the long run since I wouldn't have to get a 100 dollar entry level board, then drop another 200 hundred or so once I wanted something a little better. _________________ umm... what can I say, I wish I was around when the Bi-levels were hitn the shelves.

Yeah I think I have seen this shoe in a magazine, but they didn't have them anywhere locally. So When I found the Volari for the 29 bucks I figured they would work for now.
On a side note they really need to offer the team shoes more to the general public. It seems to me most people would buy them if they could find them. _________________ umm... what can I say, I wish I was around when the Bi-levels were hitn the shelves.

I definitely think the riders are interested, but wakeskating is also a limited market--a wakeskate shoe won't sell at every shop, you know? The kenyans are now 49.99 on buywake, and DVS is currently working on a new shoe project that was described as "the best yet." Stay tuned... _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |
