magicace, it seems good.
avchd is not compatible with that many editing programs yet. so you might run into some problems there.
its canons first HD harddrive camera , which means they havent had that much time to work out all the kinks.
just make sure you research everything ALOT!

magicace, it looks like it has a lot potential. As ej said Hard drive cameras were just recently introduced to the market so they have a long way to go before they become adaptable with all of the editing programs and before they remove all of the flaws. Have fun with it and really try to learn everything about your camera. you can make a $500 dollar camera look as nice as a $2000 camera if you know what your doing. good luck _________________ -andrew- |

the new sony vegas is.
I personally would pass on the HDD cameras. too many moving parts in a hard drive camera is a bad idea IMO.. It seems as if everyone is shifting to SDHC cards for the new recording media format.
At frys I picked up a HD compadible SDHC 16gb card for 59 bucks.. and in six months I'm sure a 32gb SDHC card will be out for $100 or less.
but if the hdd camera you're looking at is a good deal, then go for it!
ps. avchd is a pain in the ass. make sure you have a badass computer with lots of CPU power. Something like a Core2Duo, for sure. _________________ integrity-wake.com | chriscut.com |

Chris Barcellos, How is the "HD compatible" SDHC card different from the one I can stick in my 1D? Isn't memory just memory, or is it optimized somehow for video work?
And I would absolutely pass on cameras that have spinning hard drives in them. If they're solid state drives then great...but not if they involve moving parts. _________________ facebook.com/TheLiquidPlayground

It's not specialized for HD or any kind of video, it is just verified by a class designation for certain bit rates of HD. You want to make sure your card is fast enough to support the crazy high bit rates of hd.
The card I just bought was a class6. I'm not sure what that transfers over to in a 100x 130x or whatever speed, but i do believe there is a chart somewhere online for class to card speed. _________________ integrity-wake.com | chriscut.com |
