|
|
Hey guys looking to buy a new deck and i am looking at bi levels, my past two decks have been the byerly hand grenade and bt vinyl and im looking for something with more of a skateboard feel.
Im caught in between 3 different decks with some pros and cons and they are
Ronix 42" Zariel
i like the durable urethane and both wood idea however the weight of it kind of turns me away to get more of a skateboard feel, i am 5'10'' and 145 pounds so this deck might be a challenge for me to do my kickflips and varial flips on.
Liquid force SST 40.5
i love the idea of the composite top, however ive always ridden composites and i feel it might not feel any different from the vinyl. i also love how close each level is to each other, however this board is also roughly 13 pounds and might be a problem for me, i have heard this board also snaps easy because of the bottom wood deck being thin and exposed to more water.
Lastly the Matt Manzari Gator Deuce pop board
this board kind of seems more appealing to me hoeever i dont know if the composite bottom is the greatest thing to ride on a bi level and ive heard the top wood swells up really easily, im not too sure of the weight of this deck however i am looking for something that wont break easy.
So i am super stuck in between all three of these decks and i dont know which one to choose! can any one help me? itd be greatly appreciated ! |

I've said this before, but if you're going to just post a brand, give some feedback as to why you think this is a proper board for this guy. Posting "liquid force" or "devotid" doesn't give that guy anything helpful to go on.
Rideglass, you might have been misinformed on some of these boards. The zariel doesn't have any urethane in it (it does have some other material for a sidewall on the bottom deck), and the SST was breaking because water was forcing the top and bottom decks apart when they'd nosedive, and not because they're too thin or what have you.
I have not ridden any of those decks, but I've consistently been on a bi-level for awhile now. I think weight is an issue that's hard to avoid with bi-levels, but I think it really comes down to how you initiate your tricks, and also if you really feel comfortable on a board. I personally don't feel that the board's weight is anything that's held my riding back, or prevented me from landing something. I just know that I feel really comfortable working with a bi-level, and i've definitely paid a lot more attention to trick intiation, and as an example, just waiting a bit later to initiate something like a 3 shuv. As far as the big picture goes, nearly any worth while trick has been performed on single decks and bi-levels. But it comes down to you feeling like you can work with that board.
Anyway, from other people's experiences, the deck that's had the fewest issues has been the zariel. I've actually heard very little in terms of feed back when it comes to matt's deck, and numerous people have had issues with the SST. Hopefully some people who've ridden any of those decks can actually come on and give you some feedback. _________________ *The opinions expressed are on my behalf and not those of wakeskating.com* |

devotid onward or the passion are great bilevels. they are handmade in usa by fellow wakeskaters. their new trucks are pretty much the coolest thing ever made.
The boards have alot of pop and i love em. They are the truest bilevel compared to the 3 boards listed. This is not discrediting any of them. But the Devotid is defiantly bringing it back to the roots of bilevels. If you want to be able to buy a bilevel and talk to the owner the manufacturer the designer the investor the laborer then devotid is your idea. Kevin is all the above and he puts his hands on every board made.
The awesome thing about devotid is if and when we all know it will happen you either break a top deck or just want a fresh top deck cause you want some of that pop back just call devotid up and they'll ship one out at a small price. This way you wont have to buy a whole new board.
Ive been riding devotids pry more then a year now for sure. I loved the first devotid i bought and i love the one i am riding now. I am in the process of purchasing anouther.
and from what ive heard the 09 bilevels are going to be even crazzziiiiierrr
better esnow?? |

I had the same problem with my last Zariel but I got it replaced. My current Zariel works fine.
At first, it seems heavy but when you take it wake to wake or flip it you'll realize that it's worth the extra weight. Solid base that is super durable and the only modification I did was switching to alu fins.
The only downside as I see it, is that it takes time if you want to take off your fins because as most bi-level boards you have to seperate the two decks before being able to unscrew the fin screws.
Good luck with your choice whatever it will be. _________________ _____________________________
