Tomorrow is going to be my first day wakeskating and I was wondering if anybody had some helpful tips for me. Anything is appreciated. |

stick with it, took me a while to get up my first time, like going out and not getting up 3 or 4 times, but i kept with it and now i get up basically every time, plus i grinded on the lip today and am BEYOND stoked to ride tomorrow I can't wait. Some advice from me is stay low and balled up when trying to get up, and keep your elbows locked. I know a lot of people will say have fun, but once you get up you won't even have to worry about it it is the sickest feeling. Good luck bro _________________

I tried to teach a completely non-water person how to skate the other day and I felt so frustrated for him. I was in the water showing him what to do, and got a quick pull to put my words into motion. I explained to mega bend your knees, tilt your toes up a little, straighten your back and don't hunch forward, let the boat do the work don't fight it, keep your feet spread evenly on the board, stay bent/squated til you're 100% out of the water THEN try to stand up.... like I don't know what else I could have done to get him more than 10ft in the water before getting pulled over the front of the board or straightening his legs. I think some people just don't get it.
Anyone have any ideas on other ways I can explain to him how to get up? He can ride at Odub... he just can't deep water start for the life of him. Going back out on the 4th to try again. _________________ chance favors the prepared mind |

taku, start him on a dock or on a ski just to get em comfortable. this is what i did with my gf that had no experience on anyboard at all. she had the hardest time pulling herself up behind my ski so i started her on anouther ski and after she got the feel for the board and the rope she was able to pop up deep water |

DirtyCracker... maybe that's the key because the other day he was starting behind a wakeboat... maybe a ski would be easier for him however he does know how to wakeskate (beginner level)... because he can dock start at Odub. He just acts like he is an absolute n00b when trying to start in the water. I stressed over and over to keep knees bent... like you're taking a crap in the woods is the way someone on the boat described it lol. But he can float on the board in the water.. he can even hang on when the boat starts to idle... he just tries to stand and keeps getting pulled over the front or off sideways because he straightens his legs mad early. I guess he just doesn't listen. I was hoping there's an easy way to fix him cause he's broken lol _________________ chance favors the prepared mind |

taku, listening is key. my buddy who never wakeskated before but had skateboarded so kinda understood the feet and board deal got up first try behind the ski just cause he listened kept everything bent.
most people get pulled over cause they dont put enough wait on their heels or backfoot. but keeping knees bent till your on plane is key |
