Anyone surf?

I just started this summer and love it! I'm a beginner but my dad asked what I wanted for my bday and I don't need a new wakeskate/board so i really didn't know. He came up to me and said what I thought about a used surf board and I thought it was a great idea!

Out of my friends boards I used I disliked their 8' longboard but enjoyed there 7' board pretty well! I found it easier but it caught more waves then the better people out there on short boards...

Anyone got any tips on a certain board I should look for? Something that would be good for a beginner but would be fine as I got better at it?

Where are you surfing at? Here in Florida we already got our first atlantic storm brewing wayyyyyyy out there, hopeffully it brings some waves our way.

mr robotto, get a longboard , then work your way down to a short board ,

and if you get used to your longboard (depending on your location and wave consistancy) a fish is probly the best "fun" board you can ever buy, it paddles like a longboard and rides like a shorty

POPTART, man i wish i had some cash right now... but w/ gas, mx, wake, and all the other crap i do i don't really have spare cash for multiple boards...

i'm probably gonna settle w/ a 7' fun board... i just enjoyed myself a lot more on it even though a longboard would probably be the best thing for me right now... i just did not like it nearly as much

POPTART, thanks man, well right now i know it sounds stupid but i'm in Atlanta, i surf in florida a couple times a year and sometimes california... i'm done moochin off of friends though or renting a board in cali... also the other reason is my dad was saying once i'm in college he's thinkin of moving to florida near cocoa beach for his job... not to close to orlando but within driving distance...

and even if that doesn't happen i'm gonna live in CA or FL... may be expensive but i like the ocean to damn much... i'll just use it whenever i get the chance man!

just up and moved to CA , carlsbad so i was close to tressles , swamis, and encinitas......it was so sick
