18hp ? ? ? ?

Ok so my friend was walking through his parents garage and stumbled across an 18hp Briggs & Stratton side shaft motor just sitting there collecting dust and my question is would that be overkill to use for a winch ? If we did use it could we get away with just using a clutch ? I mean it's free so that's definitely a plus and it's FREE

Montgomery, If its free and you can mount some nice wheels on your frame (to help lug that beast around), go for it!

I'm pretty sure we're gonna do it we already have most everything we need minus a few parts so I think we can throw it all together and have it ready by mid May
