well considering i am not a mechanic and do not know how to weld i bought one. people like myself are the only reason there is a super tiny market for winches. also, i know how to change a plug. did you tell everyone that john couldnt tell me to check the jet over the phone the many times i talked to him? did you tell everyone it's the 2nd thing he did when he got here at midnight? so i would have done it easily. i have tools. he just didnt think to mention it. also, i didnt order anything. i merely asked a question which you did not respond to. also, i wakeboard and skate. im not talking trash. i am telling a true story about my dealings with released. john also did not put my trailer hitch on as i ordered and said he'd send me a removable one and never did. he ended up welding one one b/c he had it b/c it didn't work, and he did a shabby job. i had to get his "movable" engine mount reworked b/c it did not work the way he set it. i have spoken to others who had problems w/ the company as well. i dont let mastercraft get away with acting like amateurs so why would i let someone else? why dont you quit being a homo and go ride like i'm about to. i understand being in school and being busy. but if you own a business you can't put that and your customers second. and finally, im not ordering anything ever now, but i would have just for simplicity purposes, as i said im not a mechanical engineer.

They sound like terrible people... driving all the way to winter haven from tallahassee to take out one bolt. Damn. Shoulda bought a grinch.

good thing you didnt order the wheel kit. on the box it says "must have degree in mechanical engineering to install". you say that you are not talking trash when you call me a homo like four sentences later... its ok tho i got a good chuckle out of it. sorry you had problems dealing with this company and i hope your winch is now everything you hoped and dreamed. i would love to stay and argue some more but that masters in mechanical engineering is not going to earn itself. hahahahahahah

well john is an engineering student, or so he told me. he didnt come just to fix my winch. he had spent the weekend in tampa, and stopped by when he got done, on his own schedule .he didn't do me any favors. enjoy your day and try not to take things too personally released. it's business. and i think putting corporations before individual consumers is one of the biggest problems facing this country and you guys are contributing. end of thread.

mojo, um i pm'd released and he got right back to me.......and im sure when THawk12593, made this thred he wasnt looking for you to come in and complain.....make your own thred to bash released.....

winching is for tech savy kids anyway ...... if you cant figure out how to fix one you should just take your MC out and chop up the water....

TAD, it holds back winching, potential riders, turns people away......and its not just winching....look at la sewer......shizzle like that is ghey.....

but for the people who really want to winch like i did ....they can look up how to make one...and most of the people on here are going to help them get it done so they can shred...at a reasonable cost

u cant just make a boat to pull you that easy....

it seems that there is a rift between skaters and wakeboarders. i dont get it? most all the guys that brought the sport about are/were wakeboarders-byerly, horell, a. reed, reed hanson, grubb, balzer, steve wahlman, etc. they are both fun sports and both get my respect. hating on someone for having a boat or something like that is like hating on someone that doesn't have alot of money. it makes no sense. the politics come from the mags and companies in the industry i think. i don't like it either, but what are you gonna do? and just because you are a huge company doesn't mean you can't make a good wakeskate, and just because you are a small company doesnt mean that either. try your luck with released. i didn't say they didn't make a decent product, but i'm allowed to have an opinion as is everyone else. my experience with john the winch builder was aweful. that doesnt mean yours will be though. can this put an end to all the hating. if someone says something negative about you or your company maybe take a step back and see if there is anything you can do to get past that negative aspect and solve that issue. that's why i say some of the things i do. it's called perspective. one way of doing things is not always the best and being willing to try a different direction opens so many new windows.

not really hating...you made the first post bro .....so its easy to jump defensive....and im pretty sure everyone on here is aware of the history of the sport.....this thread was started to help a kid who wants to build a winch...not buy one....u bought one...if u didn't like the way it went, u should have made your own...then its all on your plate.....its cool that you strapp...its cool you have a boat...its just all a little irrelevant was my point

got ya well about about this. try and find the omen winch instructions because it was hand made and it has pictures and a parts list. i've never used one, but their spool is good/cheap. otherwise just figure out all your parts from diff. sources and put it together. i use a honda 6.5hp with the stage 1 mod and a tav on it and the released skip tooth sprocket. i've deep water started 200lb riders with it about 700' out. i have so much top end that my gov. screw is just about all the way in, but you can deep water quick

released, That was really immature, and is going to leave a bad taste in peoples mouths. He is one kid among man who will sing your praise. But for you to bash him for not knowing how to change a spark plug, or drilling him for strapping. Thats just makes you look bad...
