DAM, you are true sir.

i owe CWB and stu an apology... because you truly cannot judge a prototype, just like DAM said.

brassmonkey, lets not rush to conclusions.

i never meant to call anyone specifically a "sell out" cuz that hurts, but i mean really if you can make money wakeskating that is bad ass and you should do it.

The Captain, dont look at me in that tone of voice.

I <3 TNT, can we still be friends

NaRC-P rider, Any remark of mine in this thread was reeking with extreme sarcasm.

edit: Except for the comment about selling out for a free shirt. <3

itallpointsWEST, i see what you are saying. and i agree with the fact that they do have an amazing rider that they are letting him design his own board. BUT, it seems that they started out as a ski company, then when it was safe they transfered into wakeboarding, and now that wakeskating is getting to the "safe investment" place they are now stepping forward to invest in the sport.

Regardless, before wakeboarding even existed connelly was one of the best companies out.

connelly had skurfer style board out with the rest of them, but on some level that has been the argument (ie. the ski industry started making wakeboards because their industry was dying). And while I agree with your point of view KEEF, as in it's something to consider, the other side of the coin is that wakeboarding has benefitted from the involvement of the ski/tube manufacturers. I've talked to other people about this before and money has been brought into wakeboarding from those tube sales--o'brien and HO are examples of this.

So to me, it's all about how you choose to look at it and what you decide to accept as being appropriate and in line with your point of view.

And as far as wakeskating's survival is concerned, I think one important aspect is just keeping it accessible. There's a josh smith interview from 1994 and he was talking about how wakeboarding was sick because you didn't need a nice expensive boat to ride, and I know that he knew a lot of legitimate snowboarders who were riding on their own and actually liking wakeboarding. It's kind of funny how things have changed and It's definitely evolved into something else, and everyone thinks they need a 60,000 boat to kill it, even if they wont' ever fully benefit from it (but if they want to buy it, of course, that's their money). With wakeskating, I just think it's important for all arenas to be pushed and not forget about any other seemingly "less progressive" or "less promising" fronts.

I think it sucks that people are so quick to cut down a "bigger" company that is trying to make a good wakeskate. All this can do is help the sport grow. CWB is doing right. I Spoke with CWB a little and I was goin to work with them. However it was to early in the game for them to do it. Now I am happily riding for Gator. However the person CWB is working can probably out skate 95% of the people on here and is seriously talented in Wakeskating. This does not make him a sell out. We all have a dream to do what we love and make a living doing it. However to get to that point you usally have to start riding for bigger companies that are doing tons of R & D and are sending you places to promote yoiuas well as there product. This leads to salary and that is what most are trying to do. What we and love and make a living. Some of the responses from peole on here were some what shocking. So let CWB do there thing and see whta comes out of it. I bet if it is good people on here will be riding them. I know some of this a repeat of what matt said but I ahd to get it off my chess.
Tahoe- Your amazing

The same exact thing could be said about Nike. I spoke with their rep out here and I'm really stoked on what his plans are for the future. But no matter what ends up happening or how good their product is, there's always going to be people who dislike the company.

It's just the way it is.

Raises hand. But my disdain is much deeper and older then wakeskating. At least with wakeskating they are doing things better. They definitely learned from their mistakes in skateboarding.

they've been designing and modifying this skate for a while, i haven't seen it yet but according to our cwb rep its gonna be awesome. i don't have a problem at all with cwb making a legit skate. just because a branch of them makes skis doesn't make them a bad company, it'd be different if they started out with wakeboards and then got into skis. most people love nikes and its the same deal, they used to make shoes for running, basketball, etc... and now they make an awesome skate/ wakeskate shoe. now im gonna go eat my dessert like i'm f*cking steven glansberg.

lake howell is enjoyable locale. I have fond memories from there, for sure (sorry for the nostalgia peeps, but nostalgia flows through my veins).

Plus the lake name reminds me of radster andy howell.

I <3 Howell, the San Pedro side of the lake is such an awesome back drop. Totally natural and prime for building anything you want. Right now I own a house across the street but I swear one day I'll own a house on that lake.
