What to say?

Hey so I was talking to this guy at work the other day who skateboards and I was talking about wakeskating and he said, "Wakeskating is for kids who are rich and scared of the concrete." I told him he was a punk but I see him again on Wednesday and want to work him. What should I say to defend our sport?

just explain to him why you wakeskate. calling people a punk doesnt help wakeskating unless the person is like "omg he just called me punk, im so rad"

Why do you have to defend anything? If you love to wakeskate...what does it matter what he says?

OR. Just invite him to go skate with you, and he'll fall inlove...

Ask him why he skateboards and see if it's the same response for the reason why you wakeskate. Ask him if Surfers do what they do because they are afraid of concrete. Ask him what the easiest trick is on a skateboard, do it in front of him.. and then see if he can even get up on a wakeskate. Call him an ignorant school girl and challenge him to a duel in the Octagon. And then hand him a copy of Esoteric with a heart-shaped box of chocolates.

people make a lot of comparisons to skateboarding, but we all know there are those subtle differences about it that make us love it. there's more to it than just trying to imitate skateboarding, because there's no way every wakeskater really just wants to be a skateboarder but we're scared of concrete: that's dumb. and honestly a lot of winching is gnarlier than what its equivalent would be on a skateboard, just cuz we're going so much faster and can't see what's underneath us! there's no real good way to bail either haha
