he makes kids movies, some of his major titles include spirited away, and princess mononoke. hes got a really great art style (even though i don't normally like anime style artwork)
please tell me i'm not the only one that finds his stories extremely moving |

YES!!!!
Finally someone with good tastes in Movies.
I am a HUGE fan of Miyazaki-san. Princess Mononoke is one of my all time favorite movies. I saw it when it opened at the Toronto Film festival stizzled out of my skull and stood up clapping at the end. I’ve probably watched that film now about 15 times.
Spirited Away is a great film. I saw it in Japan when it opened there.
Mononoke is definitely my favorite. See trailer at:

I wouldn’t consider this a “kids movie.” _________________ Life's Kredo = "When the snake falls in love with the spagetti it's time to buy a new hat." & "I guess I need to whiskey up these corn flakes..and heroin up this Orange Juice." |

Watashi-mo!
Went to the Ghibli museum in Tokyo. It was alright, I guess.. I was a little disappointed... And only kids were allowed to play on Totoro's cat bus... Hello?
Some other titles:
Nausicaä of the valley of the wind
Lupin III - the castle of cagliostro
My neighbour Totoro
Whisper of the heart
Howl's moving castle
Grave of the fireflies (possibly the sadest movie I've ever seen) _________________ 01/20/2009. Niko-chan! |

The cat bus Rox!!! Actually they should let the grownups play on the nekubasu and the kids wait outside
I'm a big fan as well, my fav has got to be My neighbour tototro and howl's moving castle. The kids always sound and look cute _________________ Reject the basic assumptions of civilization, especially the importance of material possessions |

You mean "click" as in that movie when the guy has a remote that controls everything? Adam Sandler, was it?
I'd say Grave of the fireflies is just a teensy bit more sad... Sort of i-wanna-stay-in-bed-for-the-rest-of-the-week sad. _________________ 01/20/2009. Niko-chan! |

Miyazaki is a genious
Lupin III - the castle of cagliostro on of my all time favorites
Howl's Moving Castle put me to sleep, I think the story was weak, of course it wasnt Miyazki's story.
Everyone should check out Princess Mononoke, that is one badass movie:

Bonis69, Yeah... that's closer. It's a great movie though. (Grave of the fireflies)
I saw Laputa, castle in the sky yesterday. I quite liked it, but it was too long.
I like the fact that a lot of his movies share a lot of themes, like respect for nature, adults should listen more to children, war is bad etc... _________________ 01/20/2009. Niko-chan! |

When a Director/writer is able to have reocuring themes within his/her films, s/he can be considered an Auteur.

I think that Miyazaki-san can be considered an Auteur.
As for "Click"....that movie surprised the heck out of me. It was a much sadder and smarter movie than I had expected. Very good writing, IMO.
The best written "Comedy" of the last year has to be "Stranger Than Fiction." I thought that was brilliant. _________________ Life's Kredo = "When the snake falls in love with the spagetti it's time to buy a new hat." & "I guess I need to whiskey up these corn flakes..and heroin up this Orange Juice." |
